Persona 3/4 both combine to almost 200 hours if you want to do everything.

Any old RPG - Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, Fallout series... Oblivion and other sandbox games are also good choices.

Mine is Myst. If you were to add up the time I spent playing this, it would add up to at least a couple of days.
Ever play Riven? Now THAT'S a sequel!

I'd say the most time I ever put into a single playthrough of a game was my 90 hour run of Legend of the Dragoon. Stupid stardust collecting... *Grumble grumble*

Also, Borderlands felt really long, but maybe that's because you do the same fucking thing over and over the ENTIRE GODDAMNED GAME!

Borderlands felt like it went on for fucking ever.
True but without sidequests.... yea, it's still pretty fuckin long.

That's the thing, it's hard to judge something like that because all of the games I put 100+ hours into all had copious amounts of side quests/activities.
Besides Borderlands (which cheats a little in this regard with the 2nd playthrough) I would say that the longest games I've played in the past 10 years are
Fallout 3 &
GTA San Andreas

If we're going more oldschool I would have to say the original Phantasy Star games like Phantasy Star 2 or 3.

The Baldurs Gate Trilogy
(Thats a mod that combines BG1 and BG2 + expansions to one epic game
using BG2s engine)
Unless you ultra speed run that it will take a while.
Im currently on my 2nd run btw. and Im still in BG1 with too many hours to count.
YAY! I was finally beaten to the punch in saying Baldur's Gate!
Seriously: This.

With BG1 and TotSC being a pretty big game as it is, being combined with the epic size of BG2 and ToB just makes it gigantic. And freaking AWESOME. The BG series is for sure both my favourite game series over-all and my favourite RPG. Just awesome.

DANG it. Now I've got to go play it again.
Maybe I'll be a monk this time...

Easily FFVI for me. My most complete save in that game clocks in at ~200 hours. That does include backstory and such, but a very large part of it is just story. I still haven't done everything yet...

The longest campaign would probably have to be any game in the GTA series,Assassin's Creed II & Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood,The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion,L.A. Noire, and really any soccer game these days. There's various "campaigns",like playing through a lot of seasons, playing with your own character until he retires from soccer, etc. but I don't think that counts.

I would have to say Final Fantasy VII. I can't remember quite how long it took but I think my clock was somewhere over 90 hours. It's too bad my PS1 memory card decided to keel over and call it quits.

Persona 3 by FAR for the main campaign. I clocked in 110hours at the end of my playthrough.

Trilogy? What?

Are you calling Throne of Bhaal a full game? That's pretty much just flat out wrong.
But anyway.

Never mind, it's the name of the mod.

I am not a fan of modifying BG, if feels dirty. Like if someone said "Hey let's take your childhood memories, and make them better!" You can't make them better.

Anyway. I spent more time in BG than any other game. The longest game would be a FF title I'm guessing.

I will just go right ahead and point out that my mate who pretty much lives off of Halo and thinks that TeS games are quaint for having swords rather than guns beat Oblivion in less than 8 hours. The main story in that game is really, really, really, short compared to what most people think it is.

I con understand your point, but all the Trilogy mod does
is combine the 2(3) games into one epic experience on the level
of the BG2 graphics and rules ect...
I love the mod.

.... Can you be a monk in BG1 with this?

(I feel dirty)

Legend of Zelda OoT, I was rather young when i first got it. It took me about 6-8 months to complete the game because my parents where divorced and i would play a few hours every-other weekend. Also I had quit for a month or so cause I could not find the last prisoner in that damn geodu fortress.
