Damn, some of you are just freaks... and I'm sure you'll wear that phrase like a badge of honor, so I'll leave it at that. Heh.

Sad thing is that the longest marathons I've had in my life were when I was unemployed. It's easy to spend 15 hours a day for three days straight beating Bully when you had nothing to do on weekdays, and were too depressed to go anywhere. I ended up returning it that week for full price, claiming it had a scratch on the disc and was unplayable at a certain point.

I'm telling ya, enjoy those days... once you're in your 30's and have infinite more responsibility, there's no chance in hell you can play in marathons again.

Before that Oblivion, in a weekend i played 13 hours hours on friday, woke up saturday played a good 17 hours, and sunday i got in another good 10 hours of nonstop playing
Similar with Fallout 3, i played that for probably around 12 hours at a time

Years of EQ. Total time playing a single game is up there pretty high. I'm sure some summer I played Diablo 2 for about 20 hours straight.

Oh god why :O I mean pick a decent game for that kind of game time :p
I'd picked it up for £7, had never played it before but loved the original. I had heard that it was apparently terrible but playing it co-op with my housemate actually made it quite fun. Obviously level 1-12 were fun, when the 13th level with the messed up supernatural boss came out we were disappointed. However the lead up to it we thoroughly enjoyed.

In my opinion the game doesn't deserve the praise it initially got from critics, but at the same time does not deserve the harsh criticisms that have been levied against it. Yes it wasn't Perfect Dark, but then again I don't think that it was trying to be PD. It would have worked better, and received less criticism if it was just a different name et al. We enjoyed it for the Timesplitter-esque approach to the game that it envoked, and we'd loved it.

(Oh yeah, that reminds me. We had also ran through Timesplitters: Future Perfect a few weeks ago in one night... but can't remember how long that took)
Nicely done, however me and my friend have played that game, but what tends to happen is, well on the level with the tank, we first got lost, no arrows showing up either, then when we shot 2 people with out big gun, they turned into corpses with infinite momentum, simply bouncing up and down, without losing any speed, then slightly later in the same lever, we kiled some people and they turned into spinnint tops of entirely flat versions of that character model... that was at least interesting!

When a friend and I first started playing Diablo with the port on PSOne, we sat up and did a 15 hour co-op run. We were both delirious by the end of it. NEVER AGAIN.

Hmm...not sure if it counts as it was more than one game...but I spent 28 hours playing a wide variety of games on the old 360... before i realized why i was so tired and ended up passing out...

Mine would be on Guild Wars. It was 16 hours. Every hour the game tells you how long you have been playing each hour and after two it tells you to take a break. I looked at my chat box and saw... "You have been playing for 16 hours. Please take a break" and at that point I thought it was definitely time to go to bed. It was just one of those days where nothing is happening in the real world and I had just got Eye of the North expansion.
Yeah I just bought the box that comes with original and Eye of the North Expansion. Do you have to go through the Prophecies story first before you can go to Eye of the North?
Yeah you do because Eye of the North is only an expansion meant for level 20s and up... Well you can actually get there sooner but there is absolutely no point as you won't be able to actually kill anything or enjoy the content. Nightfall and Factions on the other hand are full campaigns like Prophecies.

I'm pretty sure it was a Zelda game I played for the longest, either Twilight Princess or Ocarina of Time. I don't remember how long, I rarely look at the clock when my eyeballs are glued to the screen. That was probably 8 or 9 hours at the most. But I'm sure I played Pokemon: Gale of Darkness for a long-ass time, maybe 7 hours. And that's impressive and sad for a mediocre game.

And I mean a straight run, biggest break being a quick pee-run.

Mine solo would have to be Shadow Of Colloseus. I was like on the fourth one, and just couldn't stop. I played for like 4 hours, a good hour spent on the final boss. Kept on getting to the stop, stabbing him, then falling down again. Lot's of "ah F@ck" moments, but a nice sense of achievement at the end.

Duo, i played Gears of War with my brother at the top difficulty level. We started at like 8pm, finished at 2am. We had to do the final mission like 5 times, cause my brohter would keep running out in the open yelling "I can get him, I can get him!" Best night ever.

So, what's the longest marathon you had? With what game? and was it worth it?
I started a thread pretty much the same as this one a while back: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.60909?page=1

I can safely say that if this thread goes the same way as my one, then it starts to get pretty ridiculous after a while. Your 4/6 hours will pale in the extreme geek rays that are sure to appear. I think there's one guy who claimed to play for a straight week on the my thread :S

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2. My friend and I started a 6pm and didn't stop until 4:30am. We would have probably kept going except I just happened to look at the clock and say, "Hey dude it's like 4:30," All of the sudden we got really tired really fast.

I beat Final Fantasy IX in one sitting... well technically three if you must count getting up to switch the discs.

I have a bad habit of playing all my games at night after doing stuff all day. The next day, I'm essentially unconscious, and the day after the times I've done this, my friends think I'm developing narcolepsy.
I seem to recall beating both the Orc and Night Elf campaigns in Warcraft III in one sitting, probably from 11pm to 5 am. When I was done with that, I played an RPG mod for another three hours until eight in the morning. That may have been the first time I ever stayed up that late, so I was pretty much fine the next day.

Well, uh...
When I got Twilight Princess, I played 8 hours daily for a week.
That's the most I've ever played, I think.
