I've already got Golden Sun: Dark Dawn heading my way, so I'd like to know if there's anything else, old or new that I should check out with the Gamestop gift card I'm also going to get.

I'd like to suggest something a little unusual ...
Yggdra Union is both an RPG and a TBS .. overall a damn sweet game.

However, it's punishingly difficult .. just a little warning.

Edit: oops, Yggdra Union was on the GBA. Blame my poor memory.

Infinite Space.
Advanced Wars 3 or Days or Ruin.
Chrono Trigger.
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light.
That's 5 off the top of my head.

People keep pushing SMT: Devil Survivor on me. Not Strange Journey, they say. However, I can't find Devil Survivor anywhere.

-hmmm Yggdra Union. That's one I haven't heard of.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
super robot taisen endless frontier, its a fantastic rpg, altho Im not sure you can find it anymore, otherwise go for magical starsign (it seems like a kids game but its one of the more mature rpgs around)

I didn't like Days of Ruin---way too bleak and a bit too much of a departure from the series' trademark good humor and clever character design. I understand they were trying something new, but to my mind it just didn't work. More The Road than Advance Wars.

My big three DS strategy games are Disgaea DS, Civilization Revolution, and Final Fantasy Tactics A2.

Also, SimCity Creator, which is one of the better city-building games I've played on any platform---EA completely knocked it out of the park.

I personally prefer Advance Wars Dual Strike to Days of Ruin. I'm getting GS:DD for Christmas! Apart from those series I haven't really played many RPG or Strategy games for GBA or DS. I've been hooked on the Professor Layton series recently, getting Lost Future for Christmas too! :)

Well most, if not all, DSs can play advance games.
Unfortuneately, Nintendo decided it wasn't necessary to put GBA slots in anything after the original DS (they may be in the DS Lite but I'm not sure). I was shocked and annoyed enough when I got my DS and I couldn't play GBC games! Nintendo seem to think that people who're old enough to have GBC or GBA games must all have jobs and careers now and be too busy to play games. What an absurd notion!

Well, if you have never played chrono trigger, the DS version is a fantastic remake of a 15 year old RPG that still puts modern games to shame.

otherwise? I love Advance wars and fire emblem (GBA versions being my favourites though)

Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver are fantastic. Anyone who says the old ones are better just because they're the originals is an 8-bit fanboy in my book.

Really? They're all basically the same game, aren't they? (Also, this was made in the 64-bit era. You kids and your silly notions about time. *shake fist*)

Final Fantasy VI is probably the best JRPG on GBA (in my opinion...) and Advance wars: dual strike might be a good choice

Advanced Wars (any) for strategy. It's a ton of fun and it's pretty challenging and will definitely last you a while. I also play Final Fantasy VI, but that's on the GBA so you have to have an original DS or a DS Lite.

And of course, there's always Professor Layton and the Curious Village which is and always will be the greatest DS game ever made.

I'll second Infinite Space, if you can find it, It's fun as hell.
And The World Ends With You. Fun game, and makes great use of the stylus controls. Both of these games are must haves in my opinion.

Thanks for the load of suggestions. I already have both Advance Wars for DS, and I have Tactics A2. I'm not as interested in FF as I used to be, so I'm looking for something else.

P.S., a friend gave me his Professor Layton and the Curious Village game card, and I still haven't gotten around to playing it yet. If it's that excellent I might do that tonight.

Also, I'm thinking about the new Lufia remake...anyone else think that one's a good buy?

EDIT: Also, I pre-ordered Shadow Dragon (the newest Fire Emblem) for DS when it came out. One of the biggest disappointments of my young life so far. I'm replaying Sacred Stones and loving it, though.
