Okay, first off, I did search the forums but mostly came across threads where people needed games to play with their partners, and I that's not really what I'm after.

Basicly want some tips of some co-op games (split-screen, to make us look social) that's out on the Xbox 360 that's worth a mention. Any racing/sports games are out since none of us likes those anyways. Other than that we should be fine.

Games we've played already and therefore does not need to get recommended:

Halo series (all games)
Gears of War series
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
Borderlands
Resident Evil 5
Rock Band games and Guitar Hero games
Viva Piñata (one of the loads of games, can't remember which)
All them LEGO games
Any Splinter Cell game with co-op

This list will probably be updated when my brain wakes up and I remember more games that was to long ago to remember.

If you recommend a game, please tell me why aswell and not just the games name.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW 2) has a really well fleshed-out co-op campaign. 2-4 four people local co-op, 2-16 online. Awesome, awesome game.

Off the top of my head:

Dungeon Defenders (again, not sure :p)
Magicka (don't know how well the element and aiming systems really work with a controller, but I remember the devs talking about it a bit)
Trine 2 soon (no idea if its on console)
Dead Island (I enjoyed it, so screw anybody who calls me out on this >:|)
Portal 2
Terraria (not on consoles, but will run on almost any pc)

edit: some better console guesses

Saints Row 2 or 3, ish.
sin's creed multiplayer?
rayman origins
dead rising game of your choice

These seem like good games, especially since I love zombies and Portal :D

Portal 2 co-op is great - good if you've not played it before because figuring out the puzzles with a partner is remarkably satisfying

Not exactly 'hardcore' but given you included the LEGO games, I assume by hardcore you mean not made by PopCap or Zynga... but I liked the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. Well, I've only played the second, but I've completed it several times and bought the first. If you have any Marvel affinity they're a lot of fun, if a little button bashy. There's a huge character roster, some mild RPG elements, quite pretty a lot of the time. Up to four player local co-op, drop in and out.

For an actual challenge, Splosion Man is pretty damn tricky later on, and again up to four player co-op.

[Insert obligatory reference to flame shields].

Spec-Ops in both MW2 and 3 are great fun with a friend. With the right partner distills the essence of "just one more game syndrome".

Kane & Lynch: Dog Days
Me and my friend (who's sitting right next to me as I type this) had a blast with this one. It was challenging and we died quite a few times, but it was fun as hell.

Army of Two: The 40th Day
Same thing here, a fun shooter more or less made for co-op.

Also, if you happen to have a Playstation 2 or Xbox I must recommend The Warriors. It's a great mission-based brawler with an excellent combat-system and good story. Highly recommended.

You really need to try out Magicka. I don't know how it is on xBox, but on PC it's one of the most hilarious co-op games you can possibly think of, basically because everything in the entire game is there to troll you. You play as up to four wizards in a generic fantasy world, marching forth to save Midgard from evil with your almighty powers. The catch is that all of your powers work just as well against your allies. You will kill each other, and it will always be hilarious. If you don't believe me, then watch this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=5tLRI5OdJL0#t=870s] little section of the TB/Yogscast video, from just after a particularly hard fight, in which they all learn the spell of lightning bolt.

I'd second this recommendation, but only for Ultimate Alliance one. The sequel was an absolute disaster by comparison. Granted, I only played the PS2 version, so perhaps it wasn't so broken on PS3/360. But the content is still meager and the combat unsatisfying. The first is a ton of fun, though. Worth checking out.

I also will throw my weight heartily behind the Rayman Origins recommendation. That game is fantastic, and 2 player co-op is the sweet spot for it.

I hesitate to recommend Army of Two (2) but as a "fun" game it pretty much was.

I recently started cooping Trine 2 and while its not "hardcore" its a stand-up coop game.

Thats all I got

This, and also Portal 2, but I saw that was already recommended.

Sanctum. It's a good indie-type tower-defense FPS hybrid. It works surprisingly well for a PC game, and an indie game at that! The idea is that you have the set-up phase where you, in first-person, build the towers. Then, when you start the rounds, you use three of the 8 or so guns you are given to help destroy the monsters. The game is great fun, and it's work checking out.
