I just finished jade empire and loved it. Looking for another good rpg.

Everyone hypes up planet scape torment and baldur's gate, should I give it a go?
I'm not sure, but I think neverwinter nights is more of a multiplayer game?

Any recommendations are welcome ;-)

( I've played the mass effects, kotors, witchers, skyrim and even alpha protocol)

Yes, play Planescape: Torment. I've played a good amount of RPGs and it's definitely my favorite. It's just fantastic in every way. The writing is beautiful. Even when it's just describing a character's actions it's a joy to experience. The stories fuckin' awesome too.

Dragon Age: Origins. It is a dark fantasy epic in which you must defend Middle Earth Ferelden form an invasion of orcs. Yes it does sound very unoriginal but it was a lot of fun and you know from Bioware that the plot will be generic but the story and characters will be magnificent. I fell in love with this title when I played it and I am pretty sure you will like it. Plus the Enhanced Edition is only like $20 on steam.

I second that Dragon Age Origins recommendation. On PC, with the expansions and if you like mods then that game is a joy to play. Just please do yourself a favour and avoid Dragon Age 2. That was just a heartless unfinished cash in.

If you like more shooty rpgs why not give Fallout 3 a go. I mean that game is just fantastic. But get it for PC as I think that the PS3 version is still riddled with bugs. But a game that can simulate a deserted wasteland and keep it fun at the same time it's worth a play. Oh and did I mention Liam Nesson is in it?

If Jade Empire is what has you wanting more right now, I'd recommend following the suggestion of a few others here: have a good look at the "ultimate edition" (game + all dlc + expansion) of Dragon Age: Origins. It was planned as a sort of successor--not sequel--to Baldur's Gate anyway, so it should be the kind of thing you have in mind atm.

I just uninstalled Baldur's Gate and Torment a few hours ago and will never get back to them again.

I would have loved to play Torment, but GOD! I almost fell asleep on my keyboard waiting for the character to cross a room. Seriously, the RUN command should always be available in every game.

So, with this inconvenience aside, you can give Torment a try if you have time to waste waiting for the hero to perform simple actions, like moving or hitting. The game is not bad in itself, if you have 1-2 seconds for the hero to make a hit or a few steps LOL. And no, I don't have crappy computer. It's just how the game is.

As for baldur's gate, I only played for half an hour or so, and so I can't really say whether it's good or not, but I gave up playing because controlling more than one char really pisses me off.

I want a bloody game in which I control one char and that's all. In baldur's gate I started with 4 heroes by default. No comment on human stupidity!

Anyway, if you want the real deal go play "Avencast: the Rise of the Mage", and I promise you that everything else you'll be playing afterwards will be obsolete. Avencast is the GOD of all RPGs, and amazingly as it is, NO ONE mentions it.

Hold shift and click to run, or go into the options and enable "always run"

Always Run is an option in the menu. If you double click or hold shift by default you'll run as well.

In Baldur's Gate Imoen is the only character that will join you by default, but she can also be removed if you're adamant about doing a solo run. Why you would want to though boggles my mind and it will make the game supremely difficult, but if you want to play solo you can.

Do you like JRPG's? I'm not sure because the games you have listed are as far as I know, WRPG's.

Well in case you do like them theres...

Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
Xenoblade Chronicles(Wii)
The Last Story (Wii)
Chrono Trigger (SNES, DS)
Blue Dragon (XBOX 360)

If JRPG's aren't your thing, then definitely play Fallout New Vegas. Besides that and Fallout 3, I haven't played too much of the other Fallout games to make an opinion of them, but they're probably worth a shot as well.

Final Fantasy III was released on PSN today for PSP and Vita. It's $20 and it's not the best FF game but you probably played all the other ones, if you play JRPG's.

I, along with just about everybody else here, recommend Planescape: Torment. It has probably the most interesting story, lore, and characters of any game I've played. Which reminds me that I need to actually finish it (A combination of frequent crashes and not knowing what to do made it less and less appealing to keep playing).

I would also recommend Morrowind, although for completely different reasons. It has great quests and an interesting world that's worth exploring. However, it is a very, very flawed game, and you really need to know what you're getting into if you want to try it out.

Persona 4 on the PS2. There's a re-release coming out for the Vita if you have one.

I don't care if you usually don't like JRPGs, I don't particularly either but Persona 4 is so damn good it kinda transcends genre... Sort of.

It has the best mystery story to date bar none, super awesome characters, a good turn based battle system, badass dungeons and it's a really long 40+ hour game. It's fucking great!

If you enjoyed Jade Empire - perhaps a game like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance? (although it inferior to Jade Empire imo) or try Torchlight 2 (even Diablo 1, 2 or 3 might suit you).

Otherwise...

- Legend of Grimrock if you want something new but with a retro-vibe. Its fun and the puzzles get quite clever - very reasonably priced on Steam.

- Baldur's Gate 2/Planescape Torment games are amazing but, by today's standards, might be difficult to play. I personally love them but I am hesitant recommending them to people who didn't grow up with pre-2000s CRPGs. I would suggest trying out the Baldur's Gate games first - as Planescape is a bit more complex (even thought it uses the same engine). This is because Plancescape has some conversation trees and character decisions that can be missed by someone also trying to get to grips with the game.

- Someone also mentioned the Fallout Games. I love all of them (1, 2, 3 and New Vegas) so go with whatever ones take your fancy. The good thing is that the later games refer to earlier ones but in no way that diminishes your experience or understanding of the world.

I really think you should give Torment another shot. The age definitely shows and the game's system of combat is based on the old DnD systems, I think (waiting for combat rolls and taking turns to smack each other). But the combat is sort of a sidedish whereas the story and the environment is the entree. This is going to sound cliche but, once you get into the story, the game starts to take off.

On the other hand, I would not recommend Baldur's gate. Everyone lauds it as the greatest Fantasy RPG to ever exist but I've played pretty far into it and all I could think while playing through the unoriginal story, unimpressive setting, and frustrating combat was "wow, I could be having sex right now" But people like it so there must be something good about it, right?

The Witcher is a purely singleplayer Fantasy with no party members so you might enjoy that. However, The Witcher is also sort of polarizing; you'll love it or hate it, so try to get a demo of some sort.

Speaking of which, is there a demo for Avencast? Also, isn't that from the same people who made Geneforge? Because I hated Geneforge...

Skies of Arcadia is my favorite RPG, so that's an easy recommendation from me. Fantastic visual style, tough gameplay, and some of the best music you'll ever hear in a video game. The atmosphere is incredible.

Tales of Graces f (PlayStation 3)/Tales of Graces (Nintendo Wii[JP Only])
Tales of Vesperia (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3[JP Only])
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PlayStation 3/Xbox 360)
White Knight Chronicles II (remastered WKC comes with it[PlayStation 3])
Dragon's Dogma (PlayStation 3/Xbox 360)
The Witcher II (PC/Xbox 360)
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor (Nintendo DS)/Devil Survivor Overclocked (Nintendo 3DS)
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 (Nintendo DS)
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (Nintendo DS)

Some older games would include:

Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube/PlayStation 2[JP Only])
Tales of Destiny (PlayStation)
Tales of Eternia (PlayStation)
Tales of Legendia (PlayStation 2)
Tales of Phantasia (Gameboy Advance/PlayStation Portable)
Golden Sun (Gameboy Advance)
Golden Sun: The Lost Age (Gameboy Advance)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (PlayStation 2[also on PSN])/Persona 3 Portable (PlayStation Portable)
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (PlayStation 2)/ Persona 4: The Gold (PlaySation Vita)
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn (PlayStation 2)

Those are all the RPGs I can recall off the top of my head that are rather good games if you ever have the chance to give them a go. I may have missed a platform here and there for some games. I tried adding those to help see what you can and can't get your hands on, and also because I don't know your preferred platform.

Hope you find something! ^~^

heh thought I'd posted in here but obviously not.

Play Inquisitor, it's awesome and old school, it does have a LOT of text though and it's important a lot of the time and nothing is black and white in that game. It's also exceptionally long (primarily due to needing to actually think about things more than a typical rpg).

I second this.
I actually hated JRPGs till I tried this, and now its my favourite game of all time.
