I'm currently trading off between Dawn of War and Supreme Commander while waiting for Soulstorm to come out. I second Company of Heroes and would suggest that C&C 3 be passed over for C&C: Generals. I found C&C 3 to be easy, boring, and ultimately boring because every game turns into "Who can make the biggest swarm of tanks". Of course that doesn't take into account any updates that may have happened in the last few months but I seriously doubt anything has changed dramatically...

Not much has changed really, except they've balanced it quite well. It all still boils down to who has the biggest blob of units wins though.

As for a good strat, it seems that everything good has been given a shout.. ooh, Darwinia hasn't. Made by the same people who made Uplink, if I remember rightly. Check it out, its a quirky little strat that takes place inside a computer.

If you want deeper, more complex strategy, try Europa Universalis 3.

Supreme Commander by far.
Don't go for C&C3, Generals is a much better offering. Uplink is a fantastic game, not really an RTS but I will forgive it.
