Okay here's what I'm talking about I'm looking for an RPG featuring full character customization, clothes face hair voice personality the whole shibang. Also something with non-quest based activities, in fact non structured activities in general, activities that don't require you enter a specific point or trigger a mini game to play them, like crafting, hunting, gathering, but specifically crafting. Also it'd be nice if you could use potions offensively in combat. Anything like this exist?

The amount of character customisability doesn't determine how "actual" an RPG is, but if you want actual RPGs, try Knights of the Old Republic, the classic Fallouts or Planescape: Torment.

For non-quest based/non-structured activities, I can highly recommend the Gothic series.

As far as I know, the Elder Scrolls franchise allows for pretty much all of that excluding voice customization. The original Dragon Age (not so much the sequel) is pretty good in this regard as well, although there isn't any hunting.

Note to all people who demand tons of freedom and customization in games: voices are not easy to customize. Please get realistic expectations.

Table top gaming. Nothing can top the amount of choice that you get in that. Try D&D or Pathfinder.

I'd go for the Knights of the Old Republic series, the Baldur's Gate series, or the Neverwinter Nights series. Those are some of the best RPGs out there. Otherwise(even though I'm not a big fan of them) you could also go for The Elder Scrolls series, but if you do that definitely go for Morrowind.

hey customizable voice showed up in the best RPG I've ever played, Saint's Row 2 so I don't see it as being any stretch to expect it in fantasy games, maybe if we weren't so fixated on the bloody moral choice systems because the system is totally broken and you're always forced to be either all evil or all good then we could just let the voices act as a sort of sonic interpretation of your moral standing

Ninjaed.

Seriously, this is the only way to get a true, fully customizable role playing experience - the only way it is possible for you to pick your dialogue option by speaking it aloud, in character.

Which is why I play a LOT of D&D (well, Pathfinder actually, but I still call it D&D).

No video game CAN create a true role playing experience - it just isn't possible with current technology. You're always limited in some way.

Planescape Torment is a great game - one of my favorites, but you're always playing the Nameless One. No matter how you play him, you still have to be HIM.

Edit:
And, to the people saying KOTOR - really? You can only role play two characters in that: Light Jedi or Dark Jedi. I tried to play a female Han Solo, and was almost instantly forced to become a Jedi. And, since all the Dark Jedi options were baby-eatingly stupid, I ended up a Light Jedi by default.

If you're looking for a completely non-linear sandbox rpg then you might want to look into Mount & Blade: Warband as it's exactly that. Think Sid Meier's Pirates in a low-fantasy medieval setting with some of the best damn melee combat in the industry.

No potions or spells or anything like that however, purely realistic medieval based warfare. Knights, Longbowmen, Heavy Infantry and so on. There are a couple mods that add more fantasy elements, but even then the games just not built to support more fantastic elements so it's still low-fantasy.

Still worth looking into.

True, you can't beat the old pen-and-paper games for customization. After all while a video game is limited to what gets put into their programming, D&D is only limited by your imagination and how willing your DM is to roll with what you want to do.

Saint's Row is considered an RPG now? I've never seen anyone classify it as that, but I'll roll with it.

As far as customizable voice goes, it comes down to how much talking the character actually does to determine if it's even worth putting in. For example, Dragon Age: Origins has customizable voice, but since you only say variations of the same 10 lines or so they can afford to put that in. Then you get something like Mass Effect, which has so much dialogue that they could only put in two voices without making the game size big to the point of being absolutely ridiculous. Most games are more likely to just have a silent protagonist than being able to have you talk and choose what you sound like(especially cause it means less VAs they have to hire), so sorry to say you're just going to have to deal with it.

I consider Saints Row 2 as an RPG because that's what playing it is like for me, certainly more so then most of the more accepted RPGs I've played, I mean just cause it involves gang violence doesn't mean it's not an RPG, what I find puts it ahead of a lot of the other ones is that customization I mentioned in that a lot of RPGs have the problem that clothing only serves the purpose of number armor (which actually if it was literally made of its stats and you were surronded in matrix like stat code would be pretty awesome) and rarely gives thought to visual aesthetic forming that World of Warcraft look. And even if they do give it thought you never wear what you might choose to, just what has the highest number attached to it.

eeeeh, thats specific... im gonna be a bit of a nitpick and say give monster Hunter a try, even though it is quest based, but has some random circumstances when doing said quest.

The only other thing i can think of is Guild Wars 2, never played it or even think its out, but from what i have heard it meets all your criteria, especially the none quest based random encounter adventure wibbly wobbly.

Push comes to shove wait till the official release of Minecraft when it finally finishes becoming runescape and go look for the fortress' and raid them.

Ever tried role playing a shipwrecked dude in Minecraft?

It's pretty good.

Lots of crafting too.

Kotor 2 on the other hand has some of the best moral choices I ever seen.
Oh and unlike Kotor 1 it's is actually an original Star Wars story for a change, although after you play it The Old Republic will probably become one of your most hated game ever

Exactly. Story, dialogue, choice and consequence tend to come before these kind of things. Also, I only referenced Kotor as an example of an actual RPG, since I was under the impression the OP believed actual to be equal to customisable.

In all seriousness though, you can't really go wrong with any RPG by Bethesda.
Or, in a pinch, you could find loads of RPG flash games out on the net.
I'm to lazy to think of any right now though.

Saints Row the Third.... Molotovs count as potions!

EDIT: Actually, If your not strictly looking in the video game department I'd reccomend a text based Role-play here on the escapist, The Twisted Earth.
