My friends have set up an internet radio station for and by gamers.
The idea is that people can listen while they raid or play other games.
We're aiming for 24/7 DJ's but as it's early days we're still a bit off, however as I write this someone has just settled in for a 4 hour shift online.
It's heavily based off requests so there's a lot of new music as well, I've already found 2 new bands (Caravan Palace and Walk Off The Earth if you're interested)
If you wanna check it out the link is just umbar.eu

To keep this more of a discussion as well, What kind of music do you listen to when you game and are there any specific songs you come back to time and time again?

Personally I tend to listen to trance music as it's good, upbeat background music usually.
And I always end up listening to Ocean City

I don't generally listen to music while I'm playing games, with a few exceptions.

Strategy games or MMOs I'll generally turn the in-game sound down and listen to music. But I don't have any specific playlists designed just for when I'm playing something, and I'll listen to whatever is on my media player, which includes Eminem, Blink-182, Between the Buried and Me, Helios, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Innerpartysystem, Mudvayne, Saosin, Bring Me The Horizon, and practically everything in between.

If I'm playing a game in which I'm more interested in the gameplay than anything else, and don't need to pay attention to in-game sound cues for anything, I'll generally listen to music as well, though the only example I can really think of for that off the top of my head is Pokemon.

I don't usually listen to music while gaming (unless it's like CoD or something).

Someone did have a pretty genius idea though:

Step 1. Boot up Half Life 2
Step 2. Select the level where you escape from city 17
Step 3. Play this song on loop:

Everything under the Monstercat label is great for gaming. I just put my Monstercat playlist on shuffle and pew pew away.

That song you posted is BEAUTIFUL. You know of any other music with that sound? My friend and I have been looking for some new trance like that to listen to while we're working on our movies and shit. And to answer your original question, yeah in certain situations I do listen to music when gaming. Stuff like Sterling Angel, Tiesto, Signum, Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, the Neotokyo soundtrack, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, among other things. always looking for new stuff though.

I actually don't I'm afraid as my friends are more into trance than me. Although if you go through the videos of the channel that posted it, anything with a blue equaliser is trance so should be similar enough that you still like it

I actually can't think of single time when I've listened to music whilst playing a game. I just stick with whatever music/sound the game is providing. I assumed most people did the same, is it more common than I assume for people to listen to music whilst playing?

What a neat idea. I will look into this since I generally listen to that kind of music (I believe you called it trance) while I game (with certain exceptions) or do homework.

EDIT:
Oh and I forgot to include something I listen to frequently. One I particularly enjoy is the trailer themes for To The Moon. They are beautiful and have a bit of that "feel good" to them. (I have the soundtrack to the game if you are wondering)
Also, if you wish to play "To The Moon" and haven't already, don't read the text in the video, its from a key point and very spoilery. So yeah, just fair warning so it doesn't get ruined for anyone.

I don't listen to music too often while playing games but I will occasionally while playing Forza.

I quite like songs without lyrics as to not get distracted, such as;
