I like the first two, but I'm not so much into the dubstep ones. It's a lot easier on the ears than that horrible American Brostep crap we've got around here, but it's still not much to my liking.
They're best listened to with earphones, to get all the details. But if you don't like them, fair enough.

Tbh I try to ignore 'brostep' as much as possible now. Unfortunately it's spilt back into the UK and it's really frustrating when some people dismiss my taste or recommendations cos they get the wrong idea when I say I like dubstep.
That's a shame. the early stuff isn't all that bad. The bass drops and wubwubs aren't very prominent, and the sound was much more melodic.

Here's the most mellow ambient song I've ever heard:

or here's a little darker sounding one:

Really almost anything by Delerium. Their song Sensorium is pretty good too.

The Cynic Project has some good ones too:
or the more upbeat remix:

Front Line Assembly:

This one has some vocals, although I don't know if I'd call them lyrics. Only in the second half, really. Juno Reactor:

This one is by a punk band or something, but it doesn't have any lyrics and it's pretty relaxing. Skycamefalling:

Scriabin. He was an old composer who suffered from synthesia, which meant that every sound had a color to him. He became a really unique composer because he would use synthesia as a way to make very mystic, sort of terrifying works.

Here's a different work that also could fit the bill.

Loscil excels in this sort of thing.

The soundtrack to Metroid Prime can work as well.

Someone mentioned Lustmord so I'll mention Blood Box.
Similar group, with a penchant for those eerie "trapped in the middle of the earth" claustrophobic experiences.

Dont know if this is exactly what you are looking for, But try a band called Russian Circles. They are more of metal/Post rock sound, but they have no vocalist. very good.

The Sight Below-Glider

Loscil-Submers

those are two of the greatest ambient albums ever made, bar none.

Oooh, here's another one: that's Brian Mcbride's-The Effective Disconnect.

god this is fun

I have always been fond of this track. It's so spacious, but not in an intimidating way.

I'll have to bookmark this thread and come back to it later with some newer suggestions. But, for now, 'An Ending'....
