Looking for good PS1/ PS2 Games to play.

Can't go wrong with the King's Field games.

Isn't that the precursor to the Souls franchise?
I'm curious about them after beating Dark Souls.

There's nothing linking them together plot-wise, but the inspiration is evident.

Silent Hill 2 and Devil May Cry 3 are fantastic PS2 games that you can just jump into. Mind you, though, one does not simply play Silent Hill 2 and come out unscathed haha. Seriously though I highly recommend those two .

Armored Core Series (Play the PS1 games in order, getting the upgrades by dying enough in the first game, it gets you the ability to shoot blade beams and build overweight mechs, or don't, your call)

Suikoden series- All golden, and IMO, a better overall series than the Final Fantasies.

Tactics Ogre-If you like FF tactics, this one is hell of a lot more in depth though
Battlefront 1 and 2

Red Faction- Might be less fun if you don't have friends to shoot in it

Saga Frontier - It's an interesting RPG experience, got a lot of playability, but I'm terrible at the battle system

Metal Gear: Solid

Bushido Blade 1 and 2

Street Fighter Alpha series

Tekken series, especially 3

Soul Blade into the Soul Caliber series

Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

Einhander - Believing the spelling is right, its a side scrolling shooter and I fucking love it

Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City

The best suggestions have pretty much already been summed up, but I'm here to tell you you can never go wrong with big-name Sony exclusives. (Only owned a PS2)

Jak and Daxter - 2nd is a personal favorite.

Ratchet and Clank - Original trilogy is fantastic, later PS2 games not so much.

And even though it's not an exclusive, I wouldn't be doing my username justice if I didn't mention San Andreas. It's pretty much a game you're required to own.

And if you're a fan of mecha anime, Another Century's Episode 1-3. It's like the Super Smash Bros. of giant robots and also plays like Zone of the Enders.

I'm really doubtful you could get this title for a reasonable price, but I'd wholeheartedly recommend you Castlevania Symphony of The Night.

A fantastic RTS, if you're into that, is Warzone 2100 for the PS1. It's a post-apocalyptic RTS that involves salvaging lost technology and forcing order on the rebellious marauders who roam the planet shooting up the landscape, and driving out rival factions also after valuable salvage. In other words, Borderlands 2 from Hyperion's perspective. Sans humor and Diablo-loot guns.

It's good for ten minute blocks of fun, but you can play your own music and change the game play.

Well, let's get some awesome platformers out of the way:
-Ratchet and Clank series (PS2. 1-3 were good, Deadlocked was ok, Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank are meh ports of the decent PSP spin-offs)
-Sly Cooper series (PS2)
-Jak and Daxter series (PS2. 1-3 is good, X is racing if you're into that, and Lost Frontier was kinda meh)
-Spyro series (PS1. Avoid the PS2 games, especially Enter the Dragonfly)
-Crash Bandicoot series (same as Spyro)
-Klonoa 1 and 2 (1 on PS1, 2 on PS2. 1 isn't the cheapest game out there)

Now then, what else?

-Okami (PS2, in my opinion better than the Wii version)
-Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus (PS2)
-Psychonauts (PS2, but better versions are on the PC/Xbox)
-Kingdom Hearts (PS2. 1 and 2, plus maybe check out a synopsis of Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days. Skip the fat and go straight to the meatier bits of the franchise)
-Beyond Good and Evil (PS2. Not sure if the other versions are better though)
-Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (PS2, other versions available and I played it on GC. I haven't heard any significant differences in quality)

Ratchet & Clank 1-3 screw any other 3D platformer, it doesn't have a sheep gun.

Megaman X4: one of the best in the series
Breath of Fire 4: I think the best of the series, though it has some compatibility issues with PS2
