Mass Effect series. All the games pack hours upon hours of gameplay. I am currently 50 hours into Mass Effect 2, I am a bit close to the ending, but I want to complete side quests and get upgrades before completing the ending mission of the game (which is amazing). Mass Effect 3's ending was quite crap though, so that might be anti-climactic, but less so with some mods and the Extended Cut. Mass Effect 3's ending is final, though, but it does have a New Game + mode. I highly reccomend ME.

Mass Effect 1-3 work similarly, but are not all that difficult. Some people didn't like the way ME3 ended, but especially after the revised version came out, I absolutely adored it.
The Extended Cut is a great piece of work that solved a lot of the problems with the ending to Mass Effect 3. Plus if the OP gets the game for PC, he can always pick one of the many ending mods.

Even though ME3 does have a new game plus, its endings are fairly conclusive.

I can heartily recommend the OP try Dragon Age: Origins though, it seems to tick every box on the list of wants and it certainly has a definitive ending, especially if you choose to make the final blow yourself.

I recommended Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning to you as a good long action RPG, I just noticed its on sale on Steam this weekend. Base game for $5 or with all DLC for $10, considering the hours you will get out of it thats a pretty good deal

Well first post already beat me to the gun

KoA wasn't too bad imo, it does get a little boring later on in the game though. It's effect are really pretty though, and I always find crafting fun.

Drakenguard is pretty good if you don't mind the yandere mind fuck. (And a badass protagonist) The second game is a little bit weaker, but still fun

Also I've heard Chrono Trigger is pretty good. (Warning, this could be a slight understatement, since I haven't played it)

Bladurs Gate 1/2
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
The Witcher (amazing game)
Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
Wizardry 8
Divinity 2 The Dragon Knight Saga
old Final Fantasy games on emulator as well as any of the SNES/PS1/PS2 games some of them still are amazing.
Fallout 2
Anachronox
Legend of Grimrock (short)
Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator (played it long time ago all I remember that I liked it a lot)
any of the old PC dungeon crawler classics Eye of the Beholder/ Wizardries/Lands of Lore/etc on dosbox
Dragon Age: Origins on hardest difficulty with DLCs
Alpha Protocol(easish)
Two Worlds 2 and DLCs (like skyrim on par in every regard imo stay away from TW1)

you have to remember that RPGs are usually easy games that are just time consuming because you need to be usually lvl x to kill boss but these are some of the best RPGs that fit your requirements.

Not really an RPG though. More like a singleplayer version of WoW with a lot of Diablo thrown in. I did like the game though.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption
YES. Speaking of brilliant, brilliant games that nobody ever played lol.
