If you like space, I recommend outlaw star. Man takes job. Man finds secrets on the job. Secrets lead man to most advanced spaceship in the galaxy that's basically designed to find God. Adventures ensue. It's awesome.

Gunslinger Girl - Who doesn't want to see the character arc of little girls with cybernetic implants working as marksmen for the Italian's equivalent to the FBI? Less joking aside, the series focus on these girls coping with their new lives even if some of them have a hard time remembering who they used to be beforehand... as well as the bonds between them and their assigned handler...

Also, if you've seen Cowboy Bebop, then you probably have seen Samurai Champloo, right? I mean, instead of bounty hunters, there's samurais... Instead of four main characters, there's three... Instead of jazz, it's hip-hop... (Both CB and SC are directed by the same person and has Steven Blum voicing a main character in the English dub of both series... so there's that...)

And, I guess I can't recommend you any parody-type anime, then... otherwise, I would have recommended Excel Saga and just explained it with the phrase "Eat the dog"... (considering how "serious" the series takes itself...)

O I also really like Gundam the 08th MS Team, I watched Gundam 00 all the way through, and I just couldn't like it, I tried though
08th MS Team was the best Gundam and 00 is meh. If it weren't for that dub only rule I'd say go watch Gundam Unicorn which is the current Federation vs Zeon setting Gundam.

None of the good recent Gundam gets released out of Japan... F91 and Crossbones look so good, too.

Anyway, I got nothing to add, but I gotta suggest to stay away from Elfen Lied. That show's kinda garbage. And Gunslinger Girls is boring. Best thing mentioned so far is FLCL and the dub on that is so good that at conventions I've been at where it was played the majority of the audience boo'd the sound guy for switching to subs.

Gurren Lagann is a good one too, a gigantic love letter to the history of mech anime. From the Go Nagai/Ken Ishikawa Mazinger and Getter Robo era, to Evangelion's deconstruction era and then coming back around into becoming a reconstruction of the classics in its own right.

And again breaking the dubs rule, but JoJo is a treasure that should be shared with all. Plus you liked Yuyu Hakusho and JoJo is like that show's grandpa.

If you really want dubbed JoJo though, there's the 80's ova but Yuri Lowenthal as Dio just kills it for me.

Oh yeah, how could I forget, one that fits into everything you've said - Sword of the Stranger.
This movie flew completely under the radar back when it was released in 2007 or 08, which is sad because it's a fantastic film.

Absolutely beautifully drawn movie, good voicing, realistic setting and some of the best choreographed and animated fights I've ever seen. It also avoids the classic "katana is best" combat movie setup, every character uses a different kind of weapon and each handles it expertly, the one who pull out the win is the one who is genuinely the more skilled. Unless you're the dbag who brings the musket and shoots people in the middle of fighting someone else.

I have recently being enjoying Samurai Gun, Gantz and Paranoia agent. I don't mind the dub on either series, but I find if you are not really paying attention, you might easily get lost with regards to Paranoia agent and Gantz, at least I did at first, but I found them enjoyable.

1) I'd suggest you use myanimelist, it's pretty cool site.

2) Suggestions:
Turn-A Gundam - It isn't dubbed, yet, but it's probably the best non-UC Gundam.

Crest/Banner of the Stars - A sort of space drama, with a focus on two characters, one human and one not.

Studio Ghibli - Just find some movies and watch them, there really isn't a 'bad' movie that they've made.

Planetes - Interesting 'near future' space show, with a focus on the 'people who keep them running'.

Flag - War drama from the perspective of journalist.

The_08th_MS_Team - 'Realistic' MSG, rather interesting take.

Origin: Spirits of the Past - Cool movie, fun ride.

Freedom - It's a bit, odd, but I enjoyed it.

Macross - If you liked Robotech, which was a forced edit of three different series, then you should check out the originals.

Magi:_The_Labyrinth_of_Magic - Cool show, SE2 recently aired, but the first has been dubbed.

Ergo Proxy was pretty decent, got good dubs and Liam O'Brien voicing one of the main characters which is a pretty huge plus if you like him. Its a dark sci-fi thriller which is also drawn in a much less cartoony manner than usual, so it may just be right up your alley.

You should also give Gurren Lagann a chance even though it sounds like you dislike its animation style, it is genuinely one of the best, most crazy over the top anime out there and definitely a must watch even if you're just remotely interested in mecha.

I'm quite a fan of the first series of Eureka 7 and Angel Beats. TTGL and Bokurano are also decent.
