Hello there, Im currently a psychology student currently working on a statistical assignment and was hoping some people would help me with getting some data.

Im looking for three basic pieces of information: your gender, your "ideal weight", and how many pounds under/over you are from that weight (you dont need to specify whether you are over or under your ideal weight, just a number saying how far away from it you are)

That's it. Short and simple and you would have my undying gratitude. If you would like to participate but do not want to post in the forum, feel free to shoot me a message.

Also note that I in no way will be using any of your contact information, or forum names, or anything of the sort, only the 3 pieces of information that I asked for. Again, this is not some kind of psychology research, its a math assignment, all Im interested in is the numbers.

Thank you for your time, and thank you very much for your participation.

OP you might want to try this on another site, calmego made a thread to help with this kinda thing for a Psychology project late last month and it was locked by mods:
Please do not use the escapist for homework or survey.

Hm hm.. ok

Male
Ideal Weight: 85 KG (~187 lbs)
Currently ~30 kg over (+66 lbs)

So yeah i am vastly out of shape. Hm... isn't this data completely useless for anything? The only thing you get is how many people are perceiving themselves near their "best" weight.

Currently: 60 lbs over

Being 6'8" and fundamentally opposed to not-absolutely-necessary-work makes it kinda hard to get my weight to a more reasonable number.

Male, 6'3", 330 lbs and my ideal weight is whatever weight I happen to be at the time. Because my personal self worth is not tied to my slowly decaying physical form.

You need to make this on surveymonkey or something that allows anonymous responses. Because all responses you get here are connected to usernames, some of which have connections to people's identities. That means your data is tainted and may not be trustworthy. At a very least, you are adding a self-selection element that there is reason to believe can bias your data.
As I said, Im just looking for numbers. None of this is going into an academic report or anything. The answers could be completely fake as far as I know, but that does not inhibit what I am doing with the numbers.

If it doesn't matter that the numbers be fake, why not just make them up yourself?

I'm tri-gendered, my ideal weight is 1kg, but I weigh 12000kg. We are legion.
What's the point of authors writing non-fiction when the could just be writing fiction and making it up?

Male
6' 1" or 185 cm
138 lbs or 62.5kg
Ideal weight? Indifferent, but since you want numbers use 140 lbs or 63.5kg as my ideal.
I eat like a horse, I get regular exercise and do heavy lifting for a living, but still can't put on any muscle.
