I'm aware there are tons of music threads(and I'm probably not helping things)but I'm getting bored of my current music collection and I need new bands that I can listen to.
I need the troops from The Escapist to help me on my crusade for diversity and to help ensure that I don't get bored of my music ever again, and who knows it could help some people find other bands to listen to.

I listen to mainly rock and/or metal plus any(of the many)other genres of metal that there are, atm I'm particularly into thrash metal so if anyone has names of thrash metal bands then that would be extremely helpful:)

So I shall leave you guys to it to help me discover other bands I have never heard of and which you think I will mostly like like, help expand my vast library of music:)
And you're more than welcome to comment on my taste of music too, I can take criticism.

U2, Radiohead, Alcia Keys, Outkast, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Solomone Burke, Johnny Cash, Arcade Fire, Led Zeppelin, The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Miles Davis and Jeff Buckley.

Thats some shiny good music. I personaly consider that you have some of the worst music possible on that list (maybe except White Stripes) so some new stuff is definately in order. ^^

I failed to see Pendulum in that list.
You like the Prodigy=you probably like Pendulum.

Maybe try slightly more chilled out stuff, I'd recommend the Sessions and Guts

More in keeping with the general Rock-ness:

Feeder
Muse
Million Dead (could be hard to find, worth the effort)
Rancid
The Transplants
GutterMouth
Foo Fighters
Red Hot Chili Peppers (you must like the Chilis, it's the law!)
Scars on Broadway (Darren Malakian and John dolmayan of SOAD making music)

Yeah if possible I'd like to keep with the rockness moreso than any other genre of music. Not to say I won't try any other genre of music but I'm more into rock, metal and it's thousands of sub genres, than any other genre(I have all of 3 R&B artists in my entire collection of music lol).
Does anyone know any good thrash metal bands? I got albums for Death Angel and Testament recently and they're pretty badass, would definitely like more thrash:D

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I shall get dow......purchasing them legally on iTunes right away:)

Metallica definitely
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Alice in Chains

Then there is all the weird crap I listen to, which ranges from Pavoratti and Inferno (audiobook by Dante) to Icon of Coil and occasionally Daft Punk.

A lot of good music you need to go song by song. There are only a few bands that I listen to everything they have. A grip of classics couldn't hurt either, no collection is complete without "Hotel California" (The only song they know in China) and "Eye of the Tiger" (you have no idea how handy it is to have that on an mp3 player for random situations.)

Who? Never heard of them o.0
I'm going to assume they're a Spanish rock band like Ill Nino, in which case they shall soon be on that list:D

I suggest at least a little bit of the Old School. AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, etc. If only for the classics like Paradise City, Black Hole Sun, Smoke on the Water, etc.

They're Irish I believe.

As for bands;
The Clash, The Raconteurs and OK Go.
You should check out Puscifer as well since you've already got Tool and APC there.

Soundgarden are a good idea if you like Audioslave, check out music by Chris Cornell. He's the guy who did the theme song for Casino Royale and he's in both of those bands.

Check out Menomena aswell, if you want variation then theyre a good place to start.

Try Dropkick Murphys. [http://youtube.com/watch?v=qPV5Kbblt-Q]

If you want to get even more esoteric, Seabear. [http://youtube.com/watch?v=A1aT8fNBts8]

If you want some good old fashioned comedy but mixed with good tunes then definitely Flight of the Conchords [http://youtube.com/watch?v=4HaCrJK46TU]

I haven't seen Casino Royale before but I've heard good things about Chris Cornell, don't know why I don't have him yet, I think the name threw me off and I didn't associate him with rock or any of those genres.

I thought that was just a tv show, I didn't know they were an actual band lol, they're hilarious, will definitely get them onto my Zen as soon as possible.

Metallica are massively overrated.

Machine Head and Arch Enemy. The Blackening by Machine Head is one of the best albums I own.

I haven't heard any Metallica songs before. I didn't like the sound of MachineHead when I first listened to them but that was a few years ago, perhaps my ears have better adapted since then lol.

Have you considered listening to the radio? After 7pm Radio 1 showcases loads of new stuff.

Also, huge lists do not make for a great opening post.

British Sea power; slightly trippy but awesome.
Social Distortion; punk
Does it offend you yeah?; more of an electronic act, but youtube the track We are Rockstars.
Black Sabbath; it's Ozzy Osbourne,
Vampire Weekend; very Indy, but some of the tracks chug along and 140bpm
Smashing Pumpkins; sort of like Nirvana, but not and better.
Dan le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip; hip hop, but with fantastic beats, funny and very, very clever lyrics.
Million Dead (again); I cannot stress how good this band was.

I don't listen to the radio. I shall take that point into consideration though, albeit with a pile of salt lol. I'm joking.
