Lost 3DS XL Dilema

I was a fan of the 3DS when it first launched. I bought one on day one when it had it's really high price tag. Months later I was awarded with an Ambassador's Program that gave anyone who purchased the 3DS before the price drop 20 games. This was such a fun, lovely thing to have that I practically took my 3DS where ever I went playing Mario, Zelda and Metroid with a few other titles that I never played before. I continued to fill it up with Virtual Console titles and even a full game purchase in the form of New Super Mario Bros. 2.

So one day I decided to upgrade to a 3DS XL after seeing how much a bigger screen made experiencing the games all the more entertaining. I transferred everything over from my old 3DS and sold it to a friend for mere pennies to what it was worth. Everything was fine and all was right, until the most predictable thing could happen that's worse than having it broken. I lost my 3DS XL.

For five staggering months I've kept on looking and searching places I might have missed in hopes that it will one day turn up, but now I feel like I must move on and plan ahead. The problem? I still would like to own a 3DS XL, but the loss of the ambassador program will probably never be recovered. I mean, how can I tell Nintendo that I 'lost' my 3DS XL and ask if I could get my ambassador program? They don't have an account like system that keeps track of things you get except for Club Nintendo. I don't much care for buying the VC titles over again, but if I can't have the Ambassador games (most of which still aren't available on the store), I don't see a point in getting another 3DS XL. I asked Nintendo about this issue and they said that if I can give them the serial number to my newly purchased 3DS XL, they'll send in a request but with no guarantees....

Anyone dealt with this kind of situation before? You think my chances are good that Nintendo will take pity on a loyal fan and give me a second chance at the Ambassador Program? I know this sounds like a petty subject to be worried about, but I do feel like I've lost something I cannot replace and I hate that feeling.

Wow, that really is too bad, condolences.

I too have the ambassador program, and while getting the exclusive GBA games was really neat, I do think it is a bit strange that Nintendo won't release them on the store. Sadly I don't think there's really any way to rectify this problem due to Nintendo's somewhat strange policies, but don't give up!

However, at the end of the day, there are a lot of really good 3DS titles out and more on the way. Obviously, when you first got your 3DS you didn't get it for the exclusive GBA games, so I guess you have to look at what games are or will be available for the system and decide for yourself if it is worth it for you to get another one.

I am wondering if I should upgrade to an XL, anyone tell me if it is worth it?
Depends.

I upgraded to an XL because the original was too small for my hands and hurt to use after long playing sessions. For me it was absolutely worth it due to this, but if you're comfortable using the original you'll have to ask how important a bigger screen is. It's nice, but perhaps not worth the price of a new system unless you have the aforementioned problem. Also, the 3D works somewhat better on an XL screen in my experience.

You might be able to trade in the original for and XL at some stores. In that case it might be worth it.

I had this problem with my hands too... the corners on the original are just too damn pointy! I got one of those controller looking add on things, and it's quite confy now!

I have heard that about the XL having better 3D though, so may have to upgrade too!

I have just received my new 3DS XL and will try contacting Nintendo to see if they can do anything on restoring my Ambassador Program to this device. Wish me luck!
