I'll just preface this by saying that I'm sure a lot of Escapians are mature humans that live by themselves as part of adult society. I'm not. At least not yet.

My family has gone on holiday, they booked their departure for early this morning. I have an exam tomorrow, as a result I cannot join them. But, this doesn't bother me, because for one whole week I - an 18 year old idiot boy - have complete control of this house!

My question is this Escapettes, what do you get up to when you're home alone???

So far I have pretty much just played Demon's Souls all day with music playing from every set of speakers I could get to work, I also played my guitar for once being able to use my amp's unrestricted full power (well, until I realised it would literally deafen me and my neighbours if I didn't turn it down just a little bit)
And now I've got my laptop hooked up to our 42 inch TV and am watching anime on it with the volume all up and I'm not even worried that my parents might come in and start asking what I am watching and why it's in subtitles!

I do plan on having a "few people" over later in the week but I've been all responsible and waited until after my exam for that!

So, to reiterate, what sort of Macaulay Culkin-esque antics do/have you engaged in when at liberty with your abode Escaponauts?

Nothing on a scale of Home Alone for me. Just games, microwavable foods, ordering in pizza, and porn. Yay empty houses!

Not anything huge. In fact, next week I'll have it all to myself. Most I'm gonna do is have a small cookout.

Hm... I should probably let people know about that, actually.

I'm alone quite a lot, and the most rebellious thing I ever do is make pancakes.

Fucking hardcore.

I went for a walk in the rain the other day, though. It was nice, very serene in the semi-rural area I live in. 'Specially the moors near my estate.

Funnily enough[footnote]Reluctance to use the word 'ironically' in a situation that I am not sure deserves it[/footnote] my Mum actually encourages me to have people round in her absence. She says she worries I don't see people enough, or something.

But what does she know, right Mr. Sock Puppet?

(Kidding)

Usually i blast music louder than normal, Walk around in the nuddy (we all do it <.<) invite mates over, and occasionally buy food/drinks if we run out.

Also, next time my mum is away, i'm setting the 360 up down stairs, Mum got a new TV and i MUST use it.

Nothing to serious, although i did nearly flood the bath room :L luckily i saved it and got there in time xD

And i never touch the oven...it hates me -.-
That's not to say i can't cook, i can-ish, the oven just simply hates me.

Hook up the 360 to the main house TV, eat only bacon and bacon based foods, and mostly enjoy the peace and quiet with the dog.

Although since I've almost entirely moved out over the last couple of years, I more do the 'functioning member of society' bit now. Which is exactly the same, except you claim to be an adult[footnote]Everyone claims to be an adult. Very few of them actually mean it[/footnote], and are struck by the worrying realisation that all that bacon is bad for you.

I've been left alone at home before. I think it was for 2 days. I was still 18-ish...I think, and I did the usual. Played videogames all day.

I might be spending a full week (or two) later this summer by myself, since summer school/my summer job are kind of getting in the way of vacation plans. So if that happens...pretty much same as usual. Only I will be using the big screen TV whenever possible. Only issue is gonna have to be cooking for myself EVERY freakin day. At least since I will be making portions for one person, there will be less dishes to do...(Is now 23)

i was left home alone for 2 weeks when i was 16, i turned 17 in the time they were away so i had a party, not too many people as i dont want the house trashed, but i got shitfaced, threw up 15 times the next day and was basically dead for two days

thats why i dont drink at all anymore

i also loved to walk around in just my boxers, play music loudly, order chinese all the time and just generally have mates round all the time

was a good two weeks (except for the cleaning part -___-)

I had the house to myself for a few weeks in April and occasionally have it to myself for weekends and to be honest once I've played my games and music loud, not worn clothes and avoided being tidy I get bored of it and go back to doing what I'd do anyway...just with less people in the house.

I tend to live by myself 75% of the time, tbh;

both my parents live and work in Middle-Eastern countries, so I've got the place to myself pretty much all the time.

This week, for example, I'll be a-throwin' one of my (locally) famous hot tub parties, which our good friend Nudity tends to frequent. :D

Apart from that, I'm usually rather insular about it. Though nobody in does tend to make it less of a hastle staggering up the stairs singing "Rammstein" at 3:30 in the morning after a night at the pub! :p

I get shit done. I clean the house. I redecorate. I work on my car. I study. I work out. I cook. I spend more time with my girl friend. I go out with friends and catch up with people I haven't seen in a while. Everyone thinks I'm lazy because I never do shit while they're around.

Wait, if you're in New York, you're 18 and you have an exam tomorrow... first year college? Or high school senior?

Either way, rainwalks. Quite possibly the best part about living by yourself is that you can go out in whatever the hell you feel works. My family would get pissed off if I went out spontaneously in a trenchcoat during the middle of a summer day just to look like a badass, but when you're alone, there's nobody to hold you back from doing so. I typically feel great when I'm drenched in water, alone and don't have to worry about people complaining that I'm wet.

Now, I'm quite moderate when I'm alone. I still like to keep things clean and I especially don't like people trashing up my place. My life basically remains the same, though I will stay home a bit more.

Actually, rainwalks aren't the best part about being alone. The best part of being alone at 18 is determining when you sleep. When I have family around, they will wake up and ***** at me for being up at 2 in the morning, still on the computer. When they're not around, I usually go up until around 4 on a school night (and yes, you are reading that correctly; I don't sleep in school either), and depending on whether I'm rested enough on a non-school night, maybe 6 or 7. Now, whenever family is around, there's definitely an annoying sleep time. Some of my friends have it at midnight, others around 1, others around 3 in the morning. But when they're not around, or when there's a big project, it's either up until 6, or an all-nighter. I have pulled 2 triple all-nighters in the last 4 years, and one of those was because my family wasn't around, I had a fair amount of homework and sleeping was too boring. The other was working on an amazing Czech detective fiction piece, but that's a whole different story.

But the nighttime is so fun here. All the fun little shopping and dining areas light up like crazy. Just walking around and getting stuff is so fun.

It's been said, but it is so much fun to just walk around the house without any clothes on. So yeah I'd do that while playing games and eating pizza.
