no....

just.... no...

did you honestly just substitute love (a feeling) and cheating (an act) into a maths equation to say that yes c heatings is OK?

no ¬¬

What's the P stand for?

Also, isn't that an actual math property?
P = probability sooo

Probability of love or cheating = The probability of Love + The probability of cheating

say

P(A+B) = 1
P(A)+ P(B) = 1

Basicly its nonsensical because with only two options A+B will always be 1 i.e. certain.

This is really basic maths guys.

You have to remember we werent in that conversation with you and youre friends. Also you cant quantify love in an X number of units, love is like Pi.
You can Quantify Pi it just doesn't end. 3.14 is the accepted number in mathematics exams or just put the symbol.

aww yea

This may have been thrashed about,

but i got into a talk with a friend recently who agrees with me

and many others who didn't because i came to this mathematical conclusion;

If A=Love and B=Cheating
Then, P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B).

What do you guys think?
jeeze man, get out more

Emotions are irrational. Emotions are the cause of love and cheating.

Math is rational.

Therefore:

Math =/= Emotion, Love, Cheating

Math cannot calculate the probability of emotion, be it love or cheating.

Furthermore:

Amorality is fundamentally considered to be actions that cause pain to the self or to others.

Therefore:

Amorality = Action

All actions can take place despite probability.

Therefore:

Action =/= Probability

Amorality =/= Probability.

Amorality cannot be calculated on the basis of probability. Rather the action itself can be amoral or not, no matter how easy or hard it is to do. You can't excuse yourself for cheating using such false logic.

There, I put it in your terms. Never make me do that again. I feel so nerdy.

I have no fucking clue what that means, and that does not bode well for my future math endeavors. If there is anything I hate more than everything, it is math.

But basically, if you cheat, you are a horrible human being and you were clearly not in love in the first place.

And seriously.
Math sucks.
It says nothing about your future math endeavors. It's not that you're bad at math, I kick ass at math, especially algebra and this gives me a headache.

Actually, I am awful at math, all math, but it is a comfort to know I'm not the only one confused.
I wasn't saying you're not bad at math, I'm just saying you having a problem with this doesn't mean anything.

Love and sexual attraction are not one and the same. One can contribute to the other, but they are able to exist independently. So no, an end-all conclusion is not possible when dealing with the corelation of the two.

oh my goddess! lol,
simple question, gbese answers.

Some people did give me the answers i looked out for, my friends would have a good laugh over this.
Love and cheating cannot exist in the same plane

Using equations instead of words doesn't make you look smarter, quite the opposite.
Thank you kind sir, i journeyed all the way to the Escapist to prove that i am smart with elementary mathematics.
And did you answer the question? No. How smart.

One thing i hate about forums, personal attacks like say i was chasing you in your dreams last night.
Atleast i have learnt one thing from posing this question, not what i expected to learn but just as vital.

This is better than the first equation.

But this equation also assumes that the human capacity for love is limited to one person.

Also I believe the probability of cheating dependent on the magnitude of love felt for the person. That B is a function of A

B=f(A) I think it is an inverse relationship. The more you love the less likely you are to cheat.

A simplified coefficient of cheating would be the proportionality of hotness of the gf and the non-gf.

so B = (H[non-gf]/H[gf])/A

The limiting cases: Your GF is not very hot and you don't love here much. In this case B approaches infinity (probabilistically 1)

Your GF is hot and you love her a great deal. In this case B approaches 0.

A more complete equation would including a drunk factor and an opportunity factor.
