Ever play a game, not even that far into it, and just instantly fall head over heels? I did with FF III (Gotten after a recommendation from my gf whom I cannot thank enough), I only made it to the first castle, and I cannot put it down.

Has this ever happened to you?

Nier, I only got it a few days ago but I'm loving it. About damn time, I've been waiting for this game since March.

From that moment on, I did not stop playing until I reached Nova Prospekt, somewhere around 2am.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.

Played it for a few minutes in a Wal-Mart and knew that it must one day be mine.
Of course, I was 10 at the time so that sort of reaction wasn't too uncommon.

Fire Emblem and Metroid Prime.

I had been sitting on the fence about Fire Emblem but once i played the first chapter i was hooked.

And as for Metroid Prime?
All it took was this
The song played at the Menu and the Credits to seal it as one of my favorite games of all time.

The Shining Force, the ORIGINAL tactical RPG for the Genesis! Think of it as Fire Emblem's great-grandfather, with harder battles but recoverable characters (perma-death doesn't happen).

It takes about 20 hours to beat, and I did it in two-and-a-half days. Blurgh.

both Darksiders and Brutal Legend.

Darksiders as soon as I heard and recognized Mark Hamil's voice
And Brutal Legend because it combines 4 of my favorite in this world; Heavy Metal, Video games, Lemmy Kilmister, and Tim Curry.

Part nostalgia right now, but I considered it to be just that good at the time. It was good then, and I find the remakes to be good now.

I think this has happened a few times to me. Good opening cutscenes can do a lot. Most of these came when I was a kid though. So, let's see...

FFVII. Might be the first Playstation game I saw played. My cousin owned it, and, from then on, I wanted a Playstation.

Abe's Oddyssey. Together with Exodus, ranks up as one of my favourite games of all time.

MediEvil. One of the funniest games I've ever played.

Kessen. First PS2 game I got. Came with the console. Made me fall in love with it instantly, and reignited my interest in strategy games and historical warfare.

GTA: San Andreas. I don't feel it's an exaggeration to call it one of the most immersive games of its time. Couldn't put it down from the second I picked it up.

Those are the ones I loved pretty much from the moment I selected 'New Game'. Other games didn't necessarily strike such a good opening note with me, or they just had bad tutorial levels, but still went on to be some of my most beloved games.

When I realized that Amon Tobin had done the music for InFamous. I can't wrap my head around the fact that no one really talks about that game's soundtrack. It's miles more interesting than the run-of-the-mill orchestral themes of, well, most every other AAA game.

As soon as I stepped out of the vault in Fallout 3 I was hooked. Also, I became hopelessly addicted to Civilization 5 after about 10 minutes.

Minecraft. I haven't bought it yet, but I really want to play it, as soon as I have plenty of free time.

Limbo. No backstory, no music, no HUD, no chapters or levels, no screen prompts; just 100% pure immersion. And it looks extraordinarily beautiful.
