An increase in levels of oxytocin and vasopressin caused by physical and psychological attraction and association with its source.

You forgot serotonin. Infact it's heaps of different chemicals, but Serotonin, Oxytocin and Vasopressin are among the most important ones for the emotion that is 'love'.
Well, oxytocin and vasopressin are more associated with attachment and the more theoretical love side of it, and serotonin is more the real primitive pleasure. Although I guess they both are parts of love. Depends on how far you spread the definition.
Ah, now I see what you were getting at. Of course let us not forget a hearty helping of the infamous estrogen and testosterone.
Either way we're looking way too far into it! Shots for everyone! [sub]I'll need them...[/sub]

Probably outside the general demographics here.

You don't know what love is until you have children. Watching your little one sleep, for the first time, that's when it hits, like a hammer.

Really? "Lust" is the feeling you feel for your mother, father, and siblings?

I'd go look at the Greek definitions of love posted in this thread; they offer a pretty good example of the different types of love people feel.

Love?
"Overrated. Biochemically no different than eating large quantities of chocolate."
This is the kind of thing that people who HAVEN'T been in love say, because if they truly knew what love felt like, they would realise that saying "love is akin to eating a lot of chocolate" reaches into the upper most echelons of complete and utter bullshit.

I've eaten huge quantities of chocolate in single sittings - it cannot even BEGIN to compare to the feeling I get when I'm with my girlfriend.

Like + Lust + Trust = Love

^^ To quote my spouse from our second week dating.
I couldn't agree with that more. Thats the perfect trinity of the feelings that go into it.

No, at least chocolate doesn't mind if I am deficating while tonging it. I hate having to hold it in while in the middle of dirty hot sex.

OT: Can't say I've ever actually loved a girl before. Had some pretty strong feelings, but apparently when you love someone you're suppose to accept who they are.

I had problems accepting someone as a giant manipulative flirt.

Reading this thread is amazing. The cynicism is beyond this world. Most people experience love!

Anyway. Watch Adaptation if you want a view of love that is quite cynical.

Hormone-induced mind- and bodycontrol. That goes for any kind of love and any other emotion. Wish I could see it another way, but I have no reason to believe the mind and free will are not an illusion created of the flesh.

So I've heard. This sort of reminds me of an instance when there was a girl I liked and she was nodding off while we were in a van during a trip. Hard to describe the feeling I had when I saw her in restful peace. Hard to describe it now too although it's different because I had decided to forget that chapter in my life. Life had gotten complicated but I guess that's what happens when you're struggling to find your place in the world.

OT: Love is an emotion or feeling one has. It's an attraction of differing degrees depending on what or who you are loving. Some say it's a biological response, some say it transcends biology, all I know is that it's something I struggle to grasp and when I do grasp it, depression follows closely behind after it is lost.

To me, love is a genuine feeling, the greatest feeling. The feeling that makes just a second with her worth the universe. Love is not scientific or religious to me. Love keeps you warm, love keeps you together no matter how far away you are from each other. Love makes wherever she's staying home to you. Love is simply knowing (even if your close to death) if she's alright, you'll have a smile on your face. It makes the darkest days sunny and the coldest night warm.
Pretty much what you said, but on top of that I add that love is that which would make you sacrifice anything and everything to ensure that she is happy, even your own happiness.

That's pretty patronising of you. Eating chocolate releases endorphins. So, technically, if one were to consume a TRUCKLOAD of the stuff, it'd be a very similar feeling indeed.

Love....that feeling that makes no sense, that is unnecessary, yet necessary at the same time. It makes us illogical, foolish, crazy, obsessive, possessive, and downright mad.

It also makes us caring, do sometimes impossible things, have an amazing companion at our sides, and brings humanity itself closer together.

That is love, according to what I can see.
