I love BC2, but Hardcore Mode is just awful. One-hit-kill sniper rifles? On maps that size? Arica Harbour is nearly unplayable in Rush.

For me the online shooter that really keeps me playing it Killzone 2. It's so hard to criticize it when you run around a corner and eplode someones face with a shotgun. It's extra satisfying than in other games.
I love Killzone 2, but it's a ghost town now. There are only 3 maps with people playing: Radec Academy (my least favourite map), Tharsis Warehouse (great but got sick of it) and Pyhrrus Rise (Snipers... snipers everywhere). It doesn't help that my favourite map, Southern Hills, is DLC, therefor, monumentally hard to get a game going there.

No. The game is broken and not fun to play, it's a disgrace to the Battlefield series.

DICE really need to stop sucking at their jobs.
+1

I am dissapoint in DICE

After 2 long months of postponing the patch time and time again, they finally released it yesterday and guess what? Knife is still bugged, C4 is still bugged, they BUFFED the AN94 which was already OP as fuck, They dumbed down the medic class and added a whole new set of UI bugs. Fantastic isn't it?

EDIT: I haven't even mentioned the added lag and rubberbanding this patch brought.

I'm guessing your a recon? 95% of my deaths are from recon. Completely ruins the game. I rage-quit every time I play because of some stupid bullshit.

I found it fun, and while mildly unbalanced it didn't quite reach the level of "broken".
It isn't as much the balance of the weapons as it is the permanent lag, this happens all the time: I shoot someone (mostly with a sniper rifle), I see the blood spray out of him, but because of lag, he doesn't take any damage, sometimes I hear that "pling" sound when you get a head shot, but it's me who was shot, I can even see the blood, but I don't die or take any damage. It's something DICE programmed the game with.

But there are numerous other things that add up to a broken game, at least for me and many others, especially on PC.
Oh, I play on PS3. I did hear that it's gotten a lot laggier recently, and that many people switched over to the UK servers, as they were far less laggy. Don't know were you are, but that might make it better.
I've tried servers from all regions, there's no noticeable difference.

This. They're spending so much time on consoles (seriously... the consoles got a patch, some DLC and entire new game modes before they even got around to patching some basic issues for PC!), and adapting the game to 'Vietnam' that they seem to have lost track of their core fanbase!

I for one will NOT be buying 'Vietnam', and will probably not pick up another DICE game until a goodly while after it's been released... IF they get round to patching it up to a release quality standard.

So far, there's very little indication that they'll patch BFBC2 up to release standard,so I can only hope and pray that SOE does Planetside Next properly so I can get my fix of huge-world battlefields.

DICE really lost the ball recently, maybe this will sound a bit PC elitist, but they were way better developers when they only developed on PC. Now they're just mediocre, they can't even get MoH's multiplayer right.

Maybe it was just the PS3 servers, or GameFAQs was pulling some kind of weird prank.

I play BF:BC2 on my PS3 and I enjoy it most of the time. However, I usually play it around from 11 to around 14 (at most) in the morning/day. That is the only time I'm actually able to be a valuable asset to my team, as the longer out in the day it is, the more experienced players log on and I keep getting my ass handed to me. Personally I haven't had any problems with it, except for the knifing. It's proper awkward to kill someone with the knife. =/

IMHO it's the best battlefield (for me), because I love the "destroy A and B, move up, destroy A and B"-games. I stay away from the other modes, as they usually involve me dying, many, many, many times >_<

Depends if you play the various game types, switch it up enough
I gave it a fair chance, and actually progressed a fair bit - But running around all day shooting people to unlock new ways to shoot people while doing nothing else doesnt really spell success for me.

It ain't BF3 but it'll do, for one because killing a dude by demolishing the wall he's hiding behind does not get old.
You should try Red Faction: Guerilla's multiplayer, it's even better when you blow up the entire building that some camping fool is standing on top of!

EDIT: Here's some MP footage, the guys are mostly dicking around, but the banter between them is funny.

I enjoy BC2 far better then the gigantic ass-hat magnet that is MW2.

Then again, I play BF2142 more often then BC2 or MW2. In my opinion, it was a much better game with better game-modes.

If Im playing in a full team deathmatch server where everyone in my team is a sniper and we are losing badly, it sours my mood. This scenerio happens more often than you think.

I have, however, not played it in a few weeks (RDR is so addicting), so has there been an update or something?

Hardcore sniping is one of the most fun things in gaming ever.
Well, the onslaught mode is out (for 800 microsoft points), you can buy the Dr. Pepper DLC camos now (for 180 each), and you can download all guns, perks and sights for a class now.... For 560 (?) points per class.

But yeah, Bad Company 2 isn't a bad game, it's just that it requires more tactics than I really want to use most of the time. I prefer being able to just jump into a game and immediately play.

I can't say much as I just got BC2 yesterday by trading in MW2. But it did have me playing all night and so far I like it much more than MW2. It may be because I prefer big maps not (rant start) crappy small ones filled with death trap hallways (rant over) but also because I just find it to be more based on team work another thing I like in a MPgame.

so overall yes it agree that it's harder to get angry with the game than games like MW2 but (fan boy rant start) it's still not as good as MAG!! (fan boy rant over)

Its extremly buggy as some have mentioned especially the knifing as i found out today, got me killed a few times as my knife hit but seemed to just gently caress the person.

Has anyone else noticed the UAV's machine gun not working some times or not at all?

Its definately much much better than COD

I dunno, I still get a lot of good games. Radec Academy is one of my fav maps, so I'm fine with that.
I also get a lot of good matches on Corinth Crossing and a few other maps.

Single player worked fine for me. Multiplayer worked fine for about three days, at which point I got bored of blowing up the scenery. The game is incredibly glitchy in multiplayer. I mean, I was in front of a guy, hit melee, and my asshole of a playable character decided to flourish the fucking knife strike for a good eight seconds while the other guy rained bullets into my midsection until I felt a nice breeze along my spine. I enjoy blowin' shit up as much as anyone else, but BC2 is an incredibly broken game, and it just occurred to me that that could be intentional for an ironic joke... Bastards...

I played BC2 since the release. The PC version is quite broken, the patching system is no good, since they have to recompile the game everytime, that is why the patches are over 800 mb now.
Also the new noob tube is Carl gustav rocket launcher. Also the official forums are full of those tubers that defend the weapon, sayin' it's hard to aim at a dude that runs and that it takes skill. Altough with the newest hitreg fixes, there are a lot less rambo m60 medics and Abakan abusers than before. The game has potential, but it will never live up to the hype.

I am shocked that they chose the same engine for the new MoH. They are desperate to use it, even tho it's bugged like hell. I blame the console fanbois :p
