So I was playing TF2 last night. Now, I'm new to TF2, for the very stupid reason that it took too long to download. So I'm still trying to try out all the classes. Basically, I like medic and sniper. And it was while playing sniper (while promising that I would switch out and try a new class any second now) that I got 5 headshots without trying. And then 2 more. This was insanely lucky. I am not good. Like, at all. This was insane luck. In the end, I saw my brain splatter across the wall, but still.

And that got me wondering: What are your lucky moments, Escapists? How have you dodged death? I MUST KNOW!

Not that I dodged death, but I hurled a care package wildly across a MW2 map as I died. 10 seconds later, get the game winning kill by killing someone with a care package.

In A Tomb Raider game I had no idea where I was supposed to go, so I just sort of leapt off a cliff at random. I somehow landed completely safe in the next section of the game, despite the fact that that was, as I found out later, not the way your supposed to go. that way involved semi-careful platforming.

That's REALLY lucky. Like, seriously.

I even tried duplicating the feat at the same part. The result...wasn't so lucky.

Ah well. I suppose that lightning really does only strike once.

Once in Halo Reach, I was on the Spire (on the map...Spire) and began idly shooting a far-off falcon on the other side of the map with my pistol. (Because I bored, that's why) AND I KILLED IT. I even got a double kill. I guess it was already really heavily damaged. Still...it was pretty amazing.

I was playing Everquest, and being chased by a Kodiak Bear I had no chance of defeating. I was down to a scrap of health. I crossed the zone line in the nick of time, with maybe 5 hit points left. I took a deep breath, rested, gathered my resolve, and zoned back. To find my dead body, complete with a duplicate of all my belongings and gold, which I quietly looted before slinking away.

While playing some BF:BC2 i killed the entire enemy team with the most wildly thrown grenade. I actually hate grenades, i'm always killing myself with them so i tend just to lob them as far away as possible.

Multiplayer-Winning a game by dropping a predator on 4 dudes in MW2. Two more spawned just milli-seconds before the predator hit, giving me a six-kill predator and winning the game with 1 kill to go.

Singleplayer-In New vegas, Headshotting three cazadores with three bullets while they were all coming at me. Please bear in mind that I WAS using a 50. cal, so insta-killing a caz isn't that hard, but without VATS or indeed having time to scope, I fluked it. This was just after I took out everyone in Cottonwood Cove from the very top of the hill with same sniper rifle.

I was playing the Battlefield 3 beta, and I encountered a glitch. I died, but someone shortly revived me. I got up, but my guns wouldn't work! They didn't fire at all, but I found out I could still swing my knife. I unsheathed my knife, cried "Leeroooooooy JENKINS!!!!" and charged down a hallway filled with enemy fire.

I subsequently got 7 kills and won the match.

At first, I thought the knife was insanely overpowered, but whenever I tried it again, I always got gunned down.

I had an AI character take a bullet for me that would have killed me and saved me while I was doing a no death run of CoD MW1 (and no, i dont count any forced deaths).

and I was playing a table top D&D and rolled 3 20s in a role on one die.

Counter Strike. On the Buzzkill map, it was 2vs3 and i was alone versus 3 players.

I got in their base, shot one near the moving stairway, then went on the stairway, changed to my gun to sidearm in mid-air and shot the guy on the middle pillar and hit him STRAIGHT in the head killing him with only one bullet, landed safely... and then got shot by the guy on the ground.

I died, but still, that head_shot_while_in_the_air_after_just_switching_to_my_sidearm was a John McClane moment right there.
