'It also claimed to have hit the websites of gaming magazine The Escapist, and multiplayer games EVE Online and League of Legends.'

I don't remember The Escapist being down recently, and certainly not for any length of time? Anyone able to help me out here?

Also: 'The organisations and companies that it targets are often portrayed as having acted against the interests of citizens or consumers.' I thought they just did stuff 'for the Lulz'? Also, since when was The Escapist against consumer interests?!

It happened because we were complaining about them. Check the Tech Team user group.

Pretty much, but this site is almost entirely anti-Lulzsec.

Yes just like a woman who got raped because they dressed slutty... why is the victim always blamed for asking for it?

Truth is these are a bunch of chaotic little kiddies that are probably just going randomly through targets. They have been targeting gaming organisations lately like eve, minercraft and codemasters so why no things like the escapist?

They targeted us because of the anti-Lulzsec sentiment here. They even said that was the reason. I'm not blaming us, just giving the reason why they decided to target us.

Well it was never really down for long it was just really hard to navigate as it was really luck based trying to load a page as it was a DoS attack. I managed to get on to a couple of video pages about an hour after the attack.

The truth is that if you leave your door unlocked your house is more likely to get robbed. Just because stealing is still wrong doesn't mean you should leave your house open to all comers. Similarly, if you don't want to be raped don't hang around dodgy bars filled with disreputable people while dressed provocatively, and if you don't want your forum to draw the ire of DDoSers then don't have a massive thread to shit-talk them.

so, at least someone stands against them, there is no reason they should feel that what they do is anything but asinine.

Kids today, I remember my first time with a Unix account on the university servers too.

Ignore them and they will hopefully go away.

With any luck Lulzsec and 4chan will take each other out and the world will be a better place for it.

Rings a bell, I remember stuff just refusing to load. Just put it down to my at-best-inconsistent connection!

At first I thought it was just an insane amount of traffic for some weird reason but then I remembered that they did kind of mock us in a Twitter update I recalled seeing on a thread so it wasn't entirely unexpected. I didn't think it was during the night in England, because I remember trying to watch the Big Picture shortly after dinner.

So hang on... they realise that the majority of us are opposed to what they have done and stand for... so they hack us, and take down our website?

Was this supposed to make us like them MORE?

Their logic confuses me
