Okay, we are all aware of the recent adventures in the Lulz on the high seas. Most of their work, if not all is illegal, and most in unethical, some good, some bad(last bit depends on how much you like Sony)

But in recent Twitter releases and some internet news, apparently the lulzboat have done some genuinely good stuff. According to their twitter feed(far to lazy to post link, and surely everyone knows it by now?) They claimed they helped the NHS(National Health Service here in the UK, for all you American's who don't know. Yes, we're socialists :p), and in this http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2078004/lulzec-hackers-warn-nhs-security link, it explains what they actually did.

Apparently the were sorta just poking around the NHS website, when they stumbled across some of the admins user info(Seriously, I dunno how they did this without hacking) but instead of releasing it to the interwebz, or using it for their own gains, they helpfully sent a Email to the NHS and informed them of all the security breaches.

I dunno, sort it out for yourself.

Also they claim to have taken down a Jihad site, but I'm more skeptical of that. And i don't have much intel to work on.

Great. Now if only they applied the same protocol to every other security flaw they find instead of exposing it to the Interwebs, they would have my support.

This, and please stop hacking Sony, yes, we get their security is very flawed, now give them a fucking chance to fix their shit.

Nice to know that they aren't the internet equivalent of a roaming war band looking for a fight, they have a heart. If I was on that boat, I would feel sorry for the patients who have to watch the government blow £13 Billion (about $20 billion) on the cash black hole that is the new computerised patient records system. Seriously, £13 billion for a pile of computers installed with an OS and an MS Access like program. You can buy a small island nation for that kind of cash!

And the Jihad site? Don't take it down, replace it with something funny like MI6 did! Maybe with a looping video of Rebecca Blacks "Friday", or just plain rick-rolling.

my guess is these guys do not know how deep they're getting their hand in shit. Soon they might mess with US military or government stuff and get people REALLY pissed off

For them helping 1 organisation, I still dislike them.
I think that, whatever they do, I will just never like them. Attention seeking breakfast persons.

Or Sony could just close there service temporarily and fix all there crappy security without having people bothering them while they try to work

The NHS is benevolent and out to help people. Sony is a group of greedy thieves. Understand I *am* a capitalist, however Sony robbed their customers during the whole "other OS" thing that set this all off. They removed a feature people paid for, even if they didn't use it, and then basically argued that they owned your system according to the TOS and could do whatever they wanted with it. As ordinary people have no chance against Sony's legal department there really was no recourse within the system. When someone had the gall to restore the functionality Sony took away they freaked out and threw their legal department
at him.

Differant situations entirely. "Poor Sony" isn't exactly my thoughts on this as I've explained before. Hacking them might not be right, but I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for them.

It's very fun to watch peoples' opinions go back and forth at the drop of a hat.

I still don't support them, based off the Sony debacle and their terrifying tendency to post your private stuff online for all to see.

What happened last time they did that? People flipped the fuck out on Sony.

I'd rather not see a group of pricks destroy a company's fanbase "for the lulz". I would think that that might have a pretty big effect on the industry. Now, Sony removing the Other OS feature might not have been right, but after 2 or 3 attacks I think they get the fucking message, and deserve to be able to clean up the mess that was left.

Ofcourse they would but it´s either that or having news upon news that they got hacked. From there point it would be better way to save money by shutting down all there online service temporarily rather then getting all this bad PR(look at there stocks recently http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=SNE+Interactive#chart1:symbol=sne;range=6m;indicator=volume;charttype=line;crosshair=on;ohlcvalues=0;logscale=on;source=undefined)
