I'm new to the whole forum thing, but I've found that I have a lot of time to spare after watching my daily dose of videos. What exactly are your favorite stomping grounds here and is there any logical system for finding good threads?

Welcome, welcome. Personally, I end up reading just about everything. I scour these forums to death sometimes :p.

Just search for topics that interest you ^^

And once again, welcome! I too was a fellow lurker, always interested in reading what others had to say, but I never got around to setting up my own profile until recently.

I lurk way more than I post on these forums. I just look for interesting forums and see if I really want to make a post or not. Usually I do not make a post because there are already a couple pages of comments, because for some reason I find that I won't post in a thread if it already has 4+ pages of comments already. I don't know why I am that way, I just am.

I am always lurking. I lurked for a year before I joined this site, and I still lurk.

I only really answer if I really want to or if not many people have commented.
Like now.

The main page has a window with hot threads and latest posts (You can select which) I'm borderline addicted to that.

I often read the topics that catch my interest. Sometimes if I feel strongly about the topic I comment. Rarely though, since no one ever replies specifically to what I say, so its hard to know if it gets noticed.

Incidentally, does the Escapist have general discussion forums? They're good for getting to know other members. Hell, on the Monster Hunter forums on Neoseeker I used to only look at the GDs, since they often flowed well, and the conversation often became weird and fascinating. T'was good fun.:)

Ditto. Basically all the posts I ever made are because of something I saw on that window. It's very addicting. And sneaky. >.>

I lurked for a good six months or so until I registered. I still lurk much more than I actually post.

As you can probably tell by my post count and join date, I lurk a lot. I will rarely comment on a thread unless I'm feeling particularly bored or feel like sharing my thoughts.

I get a chuckle when I see people who have been here less time than me and have more posts than I did at that time say they lurk a lot though. This thread should be a fun read.

How many people here joined just so they could comment on a single video or thread?
I did.

Twice... (I posted on a thread, then a fair while later I forgot that I had created an account and wanted to post in another thread...)

OT: I tend to just use the Hot Threads window to see if there is anything there I want to read or post in. It's the first thing I do when I open up the internet...

Good threads tend to be ones that intrest you and/or are amusing.

Lol, for most of last year I just came here to watch Yahtzee and Moviebob's videos. Then Yahtzee did the MH video, I was fairly pissed at the flaming he gave it without even playing past the intro missions, and joined to make my views known. After that I just posted wherever I felt like it.

Been here for over a year, check out the interesting videos and rarely post, only when an appealing thread appears do I post so unless something good is on the "Latest Posts" on the frontpage then I miss it.

Lurker for life.
