Yeah, it could have been that, but from what he's telling us it was most likely a layer-8 issue of some sort.Aries_Split said:More like an I.D.10.T error.Nimbus said:I assume that it was a PEBKAC error, right?y8c616 said:First of all, my shitty WINDOWS computer fucked up( wish i had a mac now) and secondly, no i don't, but i know plenty of professionals who have worked in various studios for years, most of which will be running a mac pro setup, either with pro tools or logic software.
You can't exactly blame them for that, after the moronic bashing the Apple ads gave them.corporate_gamer said:There not as bad as the new microsoft "i'm a pc" adverts.
I'm a pc, and I'm desperately trying to convince people I'm down with it
I'm not saying it's not funny, It just doesn't seem to appeal to me in any way. So what if some fisherman in west Timbuktu uses Windows? I want a better reason than "Everybody else is doing it" to side with a company. Like, I dunno, the specs of it all, whether or not I'll have to worry about viruses and anti-spyware programs clogging up the processor. Honestly, even if a guy with a beret, goatee, and a set of bongos showed up and said "I'm a PC", I still wouldn't have given a damn. Likewise, if a fisherman took the place of the cool artist stereotype man, I honestly wouldn't have cared, so long as the fisherman brought the same points across.Eggo said:Yeah, Microsoft's 90% market share is really lacking without one more non-conforming conformist hipster artistMichael_McCloud said:The Mac commercials don't particularly bother me, but then again I'm part of the hipster artist crowd, using a Macbook Pro myself.
What I really don't like are the new Windows commercials.
You're a PC and you... Sell fish. Fascinating. Makes me want to buy one right now.
Microsoft has already won; this sort of cultural marketing has nothing to do with trying to attract a small limp-wristed demographic which owns turtlenecks and can't hold a job. It's there to be funny and positive.
I have, it was a reliable system, and if people want to spend their money on macs then that is fine, but that does not mean that Macintosh has to bash windows.Zeldadudes said:Wow a non-hatery8c616 said:I think they're ace!!! I hate, however, how the new windows ads are a complete ripoff of the mac ads.
Thats good to see.
I'd like to see how many of these PC owners actually have used a mac instead of calling it retarded when the word Mac pops onto the screen.
rm*, is that for "reset memory"?Gxas said:DO NOT ACTUALLY TYPE THE CONTENTS OF THE SPOILER INTO YOUR TERMINAL WINDOW!!!!!
The fact of the matter is that Macs are now a fad to any person in college who has used a PC all of their life. It doesn't matter if you say you think it is better than a PC or not, the reason you bought that computer was simply because it is 'hip' right now. Sure, you may like that it has no learning curve to it. hell, I'll agree with you on that point. What I would love to do is have one of these Mac users I referred to above open Terminal and type in four simple keystrokes:That would solve a whole lot in my opinion.rm *
(In regard to above spoiler; to all mac users who have no clue as to the basic working of the Unix operating system; DO NOT DO THIS!!! It will completely wipe everything off of your computer rendering it completely useless! Please, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!)
I warned you!!! I did!!
It stands for "remove *". The * is basically a wildcard. It stands for anything. (Java, here goes) Say you wanted to import a java utility into your program code but found out you needed more than one. Instead of typing "import java.util.(whatever utility)" and the other utilities you wanted to import, you'd simply put "import java.util.*" and import all of the utilities at once. So saying "remove *" you will remove each and every file/program/etc on your machine with no real way of recovering it all because Unix will pretty much be inoperable. That's the way my Comp. Sci. prof. put it at least. I haven't seen it in action, but he has and I trust him.Bored Tomatoe said:rm*, is that for "reset memory"?
Ok, so its a way of software-frying a mac?Gxas said:It stands for "remove *". The * is basically a wildcard. It stands for anything. Yes. The perfect practical joke for a 'hip mac user' with tons of money.Bored Tomatoe said:Ok, so its a way of software-frying a mac?
Actually, it is coincidental. You can do everything you want in the "Creative" department on a PC perfectly fine. Mac's are generally "out of the box" setup and ready to go, and most musicians aren't computer savvy enough or don't want to go through the trouble of building their own rigs. Some also fear virus's or are simply following a trend. But to say that a Mac is better for "Creative" things is just not true.y8c616 said:Well why do most professionals in the music and video production professions use macs?Eggo said:You know what's a tad annoying?y8c616 said:I think they're ace!!! People who don't know what they're talking about and constantly saying "macs are better for 'creative' things such as music and video production.'"
That is a tad annoying.
Hmmm... must be coincidential
I need to remember this. It might come in handy later.Gxas said:Yes. The perfect practical joke for a 'hip mac user' with tons of money.Bored Tomatoe said:Ok, so its a way of software-frying a mac?
