OH I just saw a new one, PC and Mac are putting lights on a tree. Mac makes a comment about how they can set their differences aside and be friends. But when they plug in the lights PC has put "PC rules" in the lights. SO! Mac is talking about PC and Mac putting their differences aside and being friends, IN AN ANTI-PC COMMERCIAL! What hypocricy!

O wait...
no games.

that's why I didn't get one.
(though I heard about the new Mac, and possible future Macs that actually run PC games)

First of all, my shitty WINDOWS computer fucked up( wish i had a mac now) and secondly, no i don't, but i know plenty of professionals who have worked in various studios for years, most of which will be running a mac pro setup, either with pro tools or logic software.
I assume that it was a PEBKAC error, right?
More like an I.D.10.T error.

DO NOT ACTUALLY TYPE THE CONTENTS OF THE SPOILER INTO YOUR TERMINAL WINDOW!!!!!

The fact of the matter is that Macs are now a fad to any person in college who has used a PC all of their life. It doesn't matter if you say you think it is better than a PC or not, the reason you bought that computer was simply because it is 'hip' right now. Sure, you may like that it has no learning curve to it. hell, I'll agree with you on that point. What I would love to do is have one of these Mac users I referred to above open Terminal and type in four simple keystrokes:
rm *
That would solve a whole lot in my opinion.

(In regard to above spoiler; to all mac users who have no clue as to the basic working of the Unix operating system; DO NOT DO THIS!!! It will completely wipe everything off of your computer rendering it completely useless! Please, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!)

I warned you!!! I did!!

Yeah, it could have been that, but from what he's telling us it was most likely a layer-8 issue of some sort.

There not as bad as the new microsoft "i'm a pc" adverts.

I'm a pc, and I'm desperately trying to convince people I'm down with it
You can't exactly blame them for that, after the moronic bashing the Apple ads gave them.
Personally I find the adverts humerous, the blatant ignorance makes me chuckle.
I was once in my younger days almost swayed by macs, but my friend pointed out to me that PC's are infinetly better for gaming. That, and I went to an Apple Store to try one out, and I could not get used to the UI at all. Thats just personal taste, though.

I tend to side with PC's in the flame war, I'm sick of the outlandish snobbery that some people can carry about Macs. I have my qualms with Vista (that annoying administrator thing it throws at you whenever you try to do anything for a start), but its still the only OS for me.

The Mac commercials don't particularly bother me, but then again I'm part of the hipster artist crowd, using a Macbook Pro myself.

What I really don't like are the new Windows commercials.

You're a PC and you... Sell fish. Fascinating. Makes me want to buy one right now.

Either way, everyone picks a side, and in the end we're either satisfied with our choice or we move on to another one.

Yeah, Microsoft's 90% market share is really lacking without one more non-conforming conformist hipster artist :p

Microsoft has already won; this sort of cultural marketing has nothing to do with trying to attract a small limp-wristed demographic which owns turtlenecks and can't hold a job. It's there to be funny and positive.
I'm not saying it's not funny, It just doesn't seem to appeal to me in any way. So what if some fisherman in west Timbuktu uses Windows? I want a better reason than "Everybody else is doing it" to side with a company. Like, I dunno, the specs of it all, whether or not I'll have to worry about viruses and anti-spyware programs clogging up the processor. Honestly, even if a guy with a beret, goatee, and a set of bongos showed up and said "I'm a PC", I still wouldn't have given a damn. Likewise, if a fisherman took the place of the cool artist stereotype man, I honestly wouldn't have cared, so long as the fisherman brought the same points across.

In short, the quirky good-natured atmosphere of the commercials isn't what bothers me. What bothers me is that their only selling point (apart from parental control, it seems) is "Hey, look at who all is using our computers! Isn't that great? You should buy one now!"

And even if I hated both commercials, I was raised on OS 9. I was born with a Safari in my hand.

I think they're ace!!! I like how they poke fun at all of windows bad points and bigs up Mac's OS. In fairness, macs are better for 'creative' things such as music and video production, etc. Windows are optimized for office and games. Macs can do all a windows pc can do because of the dual OS software, but not vice versa. Therefore i think the ads are not only funny, but true. If a tad annoying. I hate, however, how the new windows ads are a complete ripoff of the mac ads.
Wow a non-hater :)
Thats good to see.
I'd like to see how many of these PC owners actually have used a mac instead of calling it retarded when the word Mac pops onto the screen.
I have, it was a reliable system, and if people want to spend their money on macs then that is fine, but that does not mean that Macintosh has to bash windows.

Mac: Hey PC, what're you doing?
PC: Playing a game.
Mac: Oh, which one?
PC: Any.
Mac: Oh...

It stands for "remove *". The * is basically a wildcard. It stands for anything. (Java, here goes) Say you wanted to import a java utility into your program code but found out you needed more than one. Instead of typing "import java.util.(whatever utility)" and the other utilities you wanted to import, you'd simply put "import java.util.*" and import all of the utilities at once. So saying "remove *" you will remove each and every file/program/etc on your machine with no real way of recovering it all because Unix will pretty much be inoperable. That's the way my Comp. Sci. prof. put it at least. I haven't seen it in action, but he has and I trust him.

Ok, so its a way of software-frying a mac?

You know what's a tad annoying?

People who don't know what they're talking about and constantly saying "macs are better for 'creative' things such as music and video production.'"

That is a tad annoying.
Well why do most professionals in the music and video production professions use macs?
Hmmm... must be coincidential
Actually, it is coincidental. You can do everything you want in the "Creative" department on a PC perfectly fine. Mac's are generally "out of the box" setup and ready to go, and most musicians aren't computer savvy enough or don't want to go through the trouble of building their own rigs. Some also fear virus's or are simply following a trend. But to say that a Mac is better for "Creative" things is just not true.
