"I've killed alot of people in my line of work, but this one. this ones for me."

lets start off by saying that i've never played the first Mafia game, but thats alright because in this game you don't need to as its an entirely different story. You play as Vito Scalleta born to a poor Sicilian family, his dad Decides to move to america in the 1920's to start a new life. there Vito realizes he still can't escape a life of poverty. after learning that his father is deep in dept, he decides to join the Mafia business to make a quick buck, there Vitos Dirty work makes him became entangled into deep troubles and the story escalates from there.

the environments look fantastic and feel vibrant, giving that 1950's feel to it. however, the grass is the only Graphical term letting the game down. there are various 1950 style cars adding to the environment. when your car runs out of petrol you need to buy petrol, so that adds a realistic element. the shooting Mechanics feel suitable to the game and easy to understand just peek out of cover, aim and shoot. the way the character walks sometimes can feel stiff and jerky. there is now a speed limiter, so if you go over the speed limit you are prone to getting arrested, unless you bribe the cops with money, or change your clothes that night won't be forgotton by the sergant. the fighting mechanics are also easy to get to Gripes with.

you can Hijack cars, Sell cars, or even rob cash registers. whoop-de-do! besides that i feel the need to do those things incredibly low since your not going to need any things to spend your hard-earned cash on. my main complaint is that the game wants too be too much like a sandbox title with huge open areas and a large map. the only thing to be concerned about is doing the story missions, and collecting playboys and wanted posters, so i feel that large open space of the game went to waste. but don't let that put you off as the game has a deep engaging story and fun gameplay mechanics, but i overall i feel abit let down and thought they could much more with the game.

That was a pretty good review, but don't you think you're a 'little' late?

OT: Yeah I definitely (psychotic, lol) agree with you that the game is very much a copycat in many aspects. It was quite a shame because I was really looking forward to it!
I just hope I am not making the same mistake with L.A. Noire...

But anyways, we appreciate your review :)

Wow, short review xD. Pretty much sums it up though. Might be worth noting about the actual quality of the story though.
Other than that, can't fault what you've done xD. Nice one lad. Heck, maybe short reviews can be your niche;D

Also, welcome to the Escapist you two cheeky lads!

Grammar/spelling check and this could be a good review. As it is, it's a little bit of a struggle to read, which is never a good sign.

Examples: Contractions aren't used properly, "I" isn't always capitalized, many sentences don't begin with a capital, some words are capitalized when they shouldn't be, etc.

Mafia 2 is a poor by contrast to the first. Mafia 1 is an utter triumph, I implore you to try it.

(i edited your grammar/spelling btw)

yeah you can definitely tell he's never played the first, the tells, listed:
1. petrol meters were in the first (also, how do you run a car out of gas in mafia 2? i've tried *exasperated*)
2. speed limiter was in the first and a main gameplay mechanic there as well.
3. the first game was nearly completely useless except as a sandbox title.
normally i wouldn't mention 3 but you did use it to pick apart the game for being well... what it always has been, therefore it's officially fair game to use it to pick apart your review.

I clearly stated in the beggining of my review that I had never played the first Mafia game. You run a car out of petrol by driving around alot... A notification appears warning you that you are low on petrol. You will need to drive up to a gas station and buy some petrol. I mentioned the speed limiter and that you are prone to getting arrested if you go over the limit. In most places it is 40/50 MPH. Mafia 2 fails to be a good open-sandbox title even though it clearly tries too hard to be that, with the huge open area spaces and large map. I had never played Mafia 1, so I coudn't make comparions to that game.
