Mafia II Producer Explains Mafia's Infamous "Race Car Level"

This level really did make my brother quit!

I kept going however..... (because I'm a stubborn bastard..)

I hated this level so much, I stopped playing the game. I couldn't even find the exploit that other people had found.

Possibly the most annoying game level ever. I ended up downloading a save game file to get past it. Never did beat it. Never wanted to try it again. Thank goodness the rest of the game was much, much better.

This may have something to do with me playing it on the PS2, but I completed this level for the first time not 3 weeks ago, this being the first time playing the game.

I didn't realise this was the level that caused infurium, I knew there was something but was expecting it later on. I guess I was lucky.

The level's difficulty was toned down in subsequent patches and the eventual ports to console.

I didn't think that level was very hard, but then again I have a Steering wheel attached to my gaming rig...

Really the game was just a far more pleasing thing if you have a keyboard,mouse and steering wheel to control it with and I'm looking forward to playing the next one the same way.

For some reason I never really found that level to be all that difficult. I lost the race the first time but I re-did the mission and won it the second time.

there was a shortcut in that level that ensure you come first, so long as you dont roll over and snap your neck

That level was a *Bleep bleepity bleep*, I gave up on it after repeated attempts, (I was 13 at the time) but I bought Mafia 2 on Steam recently and got mafia 1 as an extra and was able to actually beat it, Yay!

I thought the previous level, the one with the other race car in the city, was harder, but that might be because I'm a Senna-Hamilton kind of driver, so getting back with the car unscratched took quite a few tries.
