Of course not. And it's not like its a surprise to know that a member of that 50% can cook, doesn't know about sports, doesn't know how to fix a car, or is able to be afraid or sad.
Now you're just talking crazy. It'd be like one of the former 50% that wasn't obsessed with shoes, make-up, chocolate and peer review.
Could you imagine if both of these populations had to live up to impossible body build standards where the former had to have a waist without most internal organs and the latter having arms the width of watermelons?
Sort of hard to imagine, but then...wouldn't people start deciding that it might be built on something entirely cosmetic like... some of their distant ancestors being born somewhere near where a group of crimelords used to live. Especially when some of them might actually be using that image to advance their careers.

Grief, I'd hate to live in a world like that. People blaming innocent others for scenes they themselves portray.

I'm suddenly reminded of the early Mafia hearings when prominent italian businessmen and politicians denied that there even was the existance of organized crime and that it was racist to assume italians had any part in it if there was.

ALL OF THEM were mobbed up.

Oh yeah, and Unico National, not all italians are portrayed as gangsters. Most games taking place in New York portray them as cabbies, deli owners and loud-mouthed Knicks fans.

"It is painfully apparent that Italian Americans are the ONLY group in America where overt stereotyping is so rampant in today's society,"

Uh, pardon me, but there's a nice group of Muslims outside who heard about your plight as being the last stereotyped group in the universe and wish to exchange the media-propagated image of Muslims as upstanding and respectable people who are generally clean, not religious fundamentalists, and don't engage in terrorism for your image of Italians as members of organized crime. And if you're unwilling to take that offer, there's also some African-Americans, Mexicans, Frenchmen, Australians, Englishmen, albinos, blondes... ooh, this is quite a long lineup. Maybe someone should serve sandwiches or something.

(I'm sorry, but someone pretending to be the only victim of discrimination EVARRRR annoys me about as much as actual discrimination against me.)

do these guys not realize that the game has plenty of irish, african, and chinese criminals as well? it would be nice if they would play the damn game before they judge it. theres also a large community of non-criminal italians in the game.

People always complain the most when they are being called on something that is absolutely true.

I wish these clowns would shut up. Everyone is stereotyped, get over it.

Italian-Americans > Gangsters
Irish, Scots > Drunks
Americans > Fat
French > Pussies
English > Twats
Asian > Smart or run a restaurant
Black > Criminal
Jews > Greedy

Get over it. Everyone is assigned a stereotype. Just look at gamers.

I have a dream that someday groups like these are held accountable for what they stand for and speak out against. In other words, before you open your blowhole, do some fraggin research!

its campaign against the MTV reality show Jersey Shore resulted in the elimination of Italian American references and stereotypes from the show's second season
How can you do that & still have a show? :/

Imagine if the Germans, Arabs, Russians ever get pissed of with stereotyping.
At least Italians get the protagonist once in a while

Seems to me like these guys are giving Italian-Americans a worse name than Mafia II...

I see this group didn't play the level where you fight the Irish gang, or the Chinese gang, or that part with the Jewish accountant.

ya know, i'd be pretty damn proud to be stereotyped as an incredibly smart, ruthless person who can maintain an empire inside an empire, and fairly effectively, too. but yeah, overall it's pretty stupid. especially in the gaming world, we see stereotypes of all sorts, and i hardly find this "stereotyping" to be in any sort of negative light.

not to mention the fact that he straight up admits that italian americans were indeed largely involved in the crime scene for this particular era. sure, there were other nationalities running their own mobs, but this was the most prevalent that i've ever heard of. and if it takes focus on the italian americans involved in it, then i suppose it only makes sense for them to be the focus, right?
As a part-Italian American myself, agreed ha ha. We have our bad stereotypes like EVERY OTHER group out there, but this is what they're pissing and moaning about? Call me when an uneducated immigrant Mario pizzeria game set in Jersey Shore is released.

Just as a human I'm insulted by the fact that they depict Italians as some sort of racial targeting exclusion. Let's be honest, essentially everyone of European descent is often treated "okay" to be racist/derogitory towards and stereotyped. It's "okay" to slam the Irish, British, Russians, French, or Caucasians in general. Beyond that is the more frowned upon or not so direct stereotyping of everybody else.

Unico is just presenting another bullet point on the "how to behave like a jackass" bulletin by creating the premise of racism that is nonexistent.

As being a member of "The South" which is also overtly stereotyped without shame or remorse (and often completely untruthfully) I take exception to his claim Italian Americans are the only group overtly stereotyped.

And I'm sure dun glad I gowt some uh dat electricoty to make this magic sex box o' mine work so'in I could say that.
