Yello there, I'm about to start a Pathfinder game and to make things more fun and interesting I'm going to be adding new magical items. This thread is here for me to cheat and steal your ideas!!!

Currently I'm coming up with items that tend to have a positive and negative affect, mostly I want the items to be fun to use, but have at least potential to back fire. Items that are activated over providing constant buffs are also good as they are interactive rather than a forgotten +1.

here's one of my current ideas as a rough guide for what I'm looking for.
Ring of Lies and Truth; +3 bluff. If caught lying for the next 24 hours the ring tightens around your finger requiring a DC 20 strength check to remove and forces the wearer to reply to all questions with honesty. (I'm not sure if I want to add in a clause that you have to accept the ring when put on to prevent it being used for interrogation or to leave that in).

I'm also considering allowing spell creation so any ideas for those would be appreciated.

I'm unsure if this should be in gaming or advice if any mods think that advice is more appropriate please move the thread.

Thank you for lending me your brains. Those delicious delicious brains!

I don't actually know the rules to Pathfinder, so I won't be able to come up with exact stats, but here goes...

'Berserker's Brew'

A potion that drastically increases melee combat capability for a certain number of turns, but negates evasion abilities and forces the drinker to spend their turn either attacking or moving into range to attack (the method of attack is up to them though). If they are still under its effects when all enemies are defeated then they must pass a difficult will check (or whatever the equivalent is) or be forced to treat allies as hostile.

I think I'd reverse your item. It'd be the lawyer's briefcase or the Politician's tie. It forces you to lie about everything even if it causes suspicion.

*shrugs* But I'm with Zhukov here so I'm not really sure how this game is played.

Berserker's Brew; What's a blood rage?

For D6 rounds the drinker is imbued with the power of uncontrollable rage gaining 6 strength for the duration. During these rounds he must attack enemies (with a charge if possible) or move into a position to attack them. If there are no enemies while under the effects of the potion the drinker must attack the closest person to him (DC 16 will save to resist) alternatively especially annoying people may be attacked instead (if within 60ft).

I may alter that further, these items are supposed to be more fun than punishing. However that's a great idea I could form an alchemist story around that which would give excuses to test it and readjust it in game! Thank you very much.

Hmmm.

Politician's tie; I just can't help myself!

The wearer is able to lie to the point that he almost beliefs his own lies. The tie Grants +3 on bluff checks. However the Tie forces the wearer to satisfy it's need for deception by requiring her to lie at least once before she has finished speaking. Failure to do so causes the tie to start strangling the wearer until it's desire is met.

That could be useful for players and NPC's and if put on someone would be deadly!

Fantastic Ideas it doesn't matter about knowing the rules and what not just general ideas are great!

Thanks again.
