I ran into him on the path between the first village you encounter (not the one in the intro sequence) and the city you're told to visit to tell the Jarl to send troops to the aforementioned village.

He's stood on the corner of a twisting pathway and doesn't seem to move.

I ran across him while running for my life because a bear and a troll were after me, and he said something like "My father's name was M'Aiq, as was my grandfather's, blah blah." Then the bear and the troll caught up to me and splattered my face all over the rocks.

So yeah, he's a descendant of the old M'Aiq.

Actually made me think about that...I was intrigued,so a quick visit to the Elder Scrolls Wiki reveals..."M'aiq's father was also called M'aiq. As was M'aiq's father's father. At least, thats what he said."

I found him standing still on the road just East of Ivarstead.

M'Aiq can run faster than the fastest horse in the game in Oblivion (shadowmere) and occasionally legs it, I followed him once from Leyawiin and managed to follow him all the way to the town that you have to fuck with in Sheogoraths quest and then he randomly turned into some other khajiit dude. Anyone else come across that? tbh as no mention of it is in the wiki I'm now starting to doubt that ever happened... maybe it was a dream?

I ran into Ma'iq today actually while I was running away from a Mammoth (failhunter). I didn't have time to talk, as I was trying to avoid being gored to death by huge tusks, but I remember thinking, "Hey...shouldn't you be dead?"

I think I saw him in the same place. I got off my horse to fight him (had just been held up by a kajjit (sp?) highwayman. cat. thing.

So I got off my horse with my sword drawn, fully expecting to cut him to ribbons when I noticed his name. I did an actual double take at that.
