So escapist after OoT's successful debut on the 3DS how do you feel about more remakes of n64 games? Personally I'm hoping for a Majora's Mask remake but without that bloody clock, Seriously I had to quit the game half way through because of it /rant

Anyway what do you think Escapists?

When you say "the clock" are you referring to the 3 day time limit?Because that's the central mechanic of the game.I don't think it would be possible to remove it without completely changing the game

Bring them on. Bring them all on. I wanna see every great game of old rereleased in some way, whether through (good) remakes, HD ports, Virtual Console, PSN or XBLA. I'm a full proponent of preserving the classics in a way that doesn't force you to reach for that RF switch, plug into an outdated television, worry about dead save batteries, etc.

Majora's Mask 3D is an absolute must. Do the same exact thing as Ocarina of Time 3D in terms of animation and graphic quality, except make the shadows darker and more pronounced (as per the concept art on the manual) and you got gold.

If they do release Majora's Mask on the 3DS, then I no longer have a choice.

To have Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask available wherever I may roam? Yes please.

Though the timer can be annoying, it's really a vital part of the entire feel and atmosphere of the game, as well as the gameplay itself. It adds a sense of urgency and dispair as you see the moon coming ever closer by each passing hour. Gosh, I love that game.

What?

How could you want a Majora's Mask remake without the bloody clock? Your logic is false...

Ohy, and I dont own a 3DS, but I would buy one if they did that.

Just imagine The Moon...
In the original, if you looked at it in first person, it'd seem to be consuming the entire screen..

Now imagine that, but in 3d, and if you have headphones on, you can hear a voice
"Oh god...oh god...why...why is it getting closer....I don't wanna die....I don't wanna die..."
Repeating over and over till you look away, but not stopping until a few minutes of real life time has passed, even if you had looked away.

You take out the clock, and you utterly destroy the possibilities for a persistent world in the game.

Just play the reverse song of time, you pansy. :p

You do know that you can slow time down by playing the Song of Time backwards... Right?

Besides, if you can't fit all the things you need to do in the 3 day window, then you're doing it Wrong.
In the first three day cycle out of Clocktown, I can 100% the first two dungeons.

OT: With all the multiplayer games out on the DS, I'm surprised they haven't brought back Gauntlet.

Along with people pointing out silly it would be to remove the clock, why would want to see a game you didn't like remade?

On topic, there is only one, pure graphical remake that I am interested in. Final Fantasy VI. Whatever device provides that I will part with my money for.

Let's remove the Ocarina from Ocarina of Time while we're at it.
The 3 day cycle is the major reason why Majora's Mask is the most moving Zelda game.

Don't like the clock? FUCKING DEAL WITH IT. It's what makes the game so GREAT. You are TRAPPED in a tiny amount of time, with the moon about to CRUSH YOU AND THE TERMINAL WORLD YOU'RE STUCK IN. The sense of oppression by time itself is quite a detail that no game I've played since has gotten right. Also, learn to listen to the scarecrow, jebus. He tells you flat-out "Hey, if you play the Song of Time backwards you can slow time down!" Most useful person in the game, aside from Link himself.

I would most likely buy a 3DS to play a remake of Majora's Mask. Throw in a Master Quest, which might take a bit more effort, and holy hell, I'm fucking sold.

EDIT: I am attempting to 100% the game in 3 cycles past the forced Deku cycle. It is entirely possible. My first cycle is Woodfall Temple and Snowhead Temple, second cycle is Great Bay Temple and Stone Tower Temple, third is cleanup duty for heart pieces and masks.

As everyone else has said, removing the clock is taking away the best thing about the game.

That being said, I would adore Nintendo more than I already do if they made Majora's Mask 3D.

This isn't Pikmin we're talking about, here--removing the clock would not work. Majora's Mask needs that clock.

As for other remakes...well, DK64 would be nice, since there's some legal issues with simply porting the game to the virtual console, but I'd rather play original titles. As I look back, I notice my GBA library was mostly SNES games...I'd rather not repeat that with the 3DS N64-remakes.

A new Gauntlet was made and ready to ship, but Atari lost a ton of cash and never got it out. It looked pretty good too.

Back on-topic, I would love Majora's Mask on 3DS and Wind Waker, but I'll settle for my second favorte 3D Zelda. I've never finished it, but not because of the time limit (That's what makes this game amazing). I'm currently playing the Ocarina of Time remake and it would be pretty easy for them to just reuse the assets again.

Let's see, how should I put this...

There is no game in Nintendo's catalog that you can think "Hey, they should re-release this on their new platform" that Big N hasn't already thought of doing first. It's what they do.

So "how do you feel about more N64 remakes?" is a moot point. It's happening whether you like it or not. In case you haven't noticed, I do not. ;)

Unless they actually bundle it together (a la the Zelda collector's edition, which I still play), the value is lost on me. In the meantime enjoy paying $40 for 15 year old games that you already own.
