So Nintendo just announced Majora's Mask 3D for the 3DS in their latest direct. Not much was shown about it, all we know is that it will be coming out in May 2015 and the EU will be getting a special edition that includes a steelbook case, a Majora's Mask pin badge and a poster.

So what are your thoughts?

Update:

This has been a long time coming and I couldn't be happier.

Majora's Mask is my all-time favorite Zelda game and I will for sure being picking up the 3D remake. I figured something like this might come sooner rather than later as of all the hints to Majora's Mask that are dropped in Hyrule Warriors.

Get hype indeed.

Well that's uh...not entirely what I was expecting. I knew (or hoped) that this would happen eventually, but I'm a bit underwhelmed by the graphics overhaul...if there was one. That badge would have looked much cooler if they left the color on it too. Never liked the Zelda series despite trying to get into this game for a long time, but I'm really glad this is coming out because I know a lot of people who will be happy about it. It's kind of a shame Nintendo didn't use one of those fan art 3DS designs as a special release or decal.

This makes me very, very happy. I planned to buy a 2DS anyway, and MM has been one of the few newer Zeldas I've missed out on.

Bloody expensive to get hold of an N64 cartridge of MM, now. The Wii shop is one option, but this is better.

My body is ready! Still, it would had been way better if they had done it for the Wii U.

As cool as that would be, it wouldn't feel right to have an HD Majora's Mask without doing the same for Ocarina of Time. Maybe ten years from now we will get a super HD Ocarina/Majora collection! :D

I've been a long time fan since I first played it on the GC collection. It has always been underrated, despite its Groundhog Day loop being a unique to the Zelda franchise and an extremely rare but thought provoking game mechanic. I've always thought it was a good compliment to Ocarina of Time, and that game to Majora's Mask. MM was more condensed and detailed compared to OoT's vast, yet vacant, world. Even the water dungeons compliment one another. The Water Temple has puzzles bases on the water's level, while Great Bay Temple was all about the direction of flow.

My only hope is they make it easy for first timers and less tedious for vets. It would be great if playing the Song of Double Time let you select how far ahead you wanted to travel, a la Elder Scrolls, instead of jumping you forward to the next 6am or 6pm. The Owl saves should be permanent, so screwing up after a save with one doesn't necessitate a trip back to the beginning of the 3 days. The well with the multiple fetch quest needs to die in a fire. Stone Tower Temple, while being one of the best areas of the series, had that annoying "go back out side and play with some switches to expose another switch" problem when you had to switch gravity. The Anju/Kaifee quest should be more lenient and give you both rewards at once. And it would be nice if your first upgraded sword traveled back in time with you. I never even use it since the next upgrade is permanent and requires the first upgrade anyway.

It great Nintendo is finally sharing this to a new generation and to those who missed it. Majora is the darkest and most emotional game in the franchise, possibly also in Nintendo's entire history. Link will find and ease around a dozen restless undead souls that can't accept their deaths without his help. He will also take the identities of several to be the heroes for the individuals' loved ones and societies. That has to be some of Ninty's best writing.

From what I've read, its not.

And...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My favourite Zelda game coming to 3DS, that makes me insanely happy after a exceedingly shit yesterday.

Now we just need Paper Mario/Paper Mario 2: Thousand Year Door on the store and I'll be even happier.

My thought is relief, because as much as I like the Wii U, I still haven't bought one and there is no way I can just pop back to the U.K. and pick one up.

But I have a 3DS, and I miss this game so much (my younger self never appreciated it enought complete it, just enough to get the three masks of Zora, Goron and Deku). So I shall be buying this then.

About time Nintendo remastered my favorite game ever. This is the reason why I care about games so much today! Thankfully they didn't ruin anything with the graphical overhaul but I feel really odd with what they did with the moons face even if it is closer to the concept art.

Still GET FUCKING HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've actually been wanting to play Majora's Mask again for a while, but I've been holding off on it because I figured they were going to make a 3DS version at some point, and yay! they are!

Although... from the trailers it doesn't look like the graphics have changed much, hardly at all in fact. Ocarina of Time 3D had a pretty noticeable difference when it came to graphics, but if it sticks to what we've seen in the trailers the difference is so minor I might as well save my money and just dust off my old 64 and play that version instead.

My thoughts on them releasing me favourite 3d Zelda game (still havnt played Wind Waker yet)?........ ME HAPPY!

I first played Ocarina Of Time a couple of years ago when it came out on the 3ds and thought it was a very good game but didnt see what all the fuss was about, then i played Majora's Mask on the Wii Virtual Console and LOVED it. This game is a masterpiece.

I'm not sure I like the new moon as much as the old one.
To me, it looks like it's silently screaming in agony and doesn't even care about link or anything.

Edit: actually this seems to be the moon from Hyrule Warriors, but they look almost the same so whatever.
The new moon seems to be looking directly at the camera and has sharper teeth, so seems more menacing and less pained than before.

I dunno, maybe I'm just used to the old one, but the new moon also looks a little goofier to me.

I know I don't. The manic gaze on the new one detracts from the slow, morbid inevitability of death that the first one had.

God I love Majora's Mask.

That's awesome. I never played Majoras Mask and the OoT remake was phenomenal. I played the N64 version extensively and loved the neat little touch-ups they made in terms of texture quality and interface. Wanted to play MM for a long time so this seems like the perfect opportunity.

I sadly didin't play the original version and am really looking forward to playing this one. My boyfriend is slightly Legend of Zelda obsessive and thinks I will love it. I will almost certainly be getting the special edition for him (my purse is starting to have real issues with Nintendo lol). However would he would love a special edition console to go with it - THAT he can buy himself :)

finally, about time this was announced

that new moon though; old one was derp and menacing because it looked so out of place, this new one... well it just looks like it really wants to kill you and everyone you love. So I dunno which is more terrifying the old derpy moon or the new murder moon?
