Actually no, I think if a character is well-written enough they won't make sense to simply gender swap. Shepard works because he or she is a slab and has no quirks or traits. RPG characters work because they don't say anything, rely on players for their input or speak entirely with text. A character that is based on gender alone is poorly written, but a well-written character is inseperable from what they are.

Also double the voice acting and Nolan North cannot sex change on demand.
