Some week ago I started subscribing to a guy named TTT1776 on Youtube, and he discusses some quite interesting stuff and uploads every day if possible with content varying from gaming to programming and open-source, etc, to world politics and such.

That being said, he posted an interesting video on February 26th, where he explained how a man in the UK had been accused of being a pedophile when he took a picture of his son riding one of those roundabout trains. Apparently some stupid mall guard overreacted, called the police, and the poor guy almost got arrested for taking a picture of his own son. The police arrived, tried to force him to delete the pictures and the whole situation was plain stupid.

This happened in Sunderland, UK.

As he says in the video, what do you think this says about society? Have we gone so far in the masculine/feminine separation process with Barbie, action toys and shit so that it's wrong for a father to spend time with his kid, let alone to be accused for being a pedophile, as if it isn't normal for men to spend time with their kids? Do you think that the security guard did the right thing, or did he step over the line?

Seems a bit much to me. Someone could have tried to figure out if a crime was actually being commited.

Hmm, wow, tahts bloody retarded, Im sure he was trying to do the right thing and be a hero but seriously? He took a Photo, and the little kid was probably hanging around the father anyways, wouldnt it be obvious?

Stupid people, we all need to straighten up and fly right.

It's such a shame society has come to this. I work at a leisure center, no cameras are allowed on poolside, which I can understand, but we do allow cameras around the rest of the building.

This is a horrific turn of events for the man, and I remember a similar story from a year or so ago about a man taking photos at a park of his son going down a slide and a lot of mothers in the area tried to have him arrested, but the police almost took one of the mothers away for wasting police time.

I also wonder, would the alarm have been called if the boys mother had been taking a photos. I mean, worst off type of person living in Britain now is a White Caucasian Male, everything you do offends someone and you can never stand up against anyone for being call "something-ist".

Back OT, I hope the father takes these actions to court.

People need to know where to draw the line, that is quite ridiculous. I've heard several stories like that before, on school sports days at my primary school nowadays, no one can take pictures for fear of the same thing.

I don't think the "masculine/feminine separation process" has anything to do with it and if anything, I'd say that in the last century the separation has only gotten smaller. It looks like the guard overreacted a bit, but on the other hand: if he truly suspects a pedophile he should act upon it. However, the problem should have been over the second the guy said it was his kid and the kid could confirm it.
Perhaps it does say something about the guard that he would assume a pedophile before a father, but that might have any number of reasons.

After seeing horrible stuff in the news people over react to this stuff. I know because I over reacted badly in a thread I made a while back were I sounded like a massive prick. Anyway, the guard definitely over reacted. He called the police straight away, he should have checked out the situation first before calling the cops. Dumbass guard. (Jesus how many times did I just say over reacted)

maybe the guy seemed kind of sketchy? Maybe the kid wasn't wearing any clothes? Maybe the guy was a pedophile, and just wasn't exercising his fetish at that time. Who knows?

I don't know. The security guard did overract and its bad that the situation got so overblown but still...
Well, I work in a library, which means I work in the childrens section most often. And I know that if anything was to happen to a child while I was on duty then I would be the one at fault if I hadn't noticed a "pedophile" as it were. So, yea, its kinda dum that the situation escalated but I can't find it in me to blame the security guard who originally caught the man. I blame the whole fudging scare-mongering system.
