great, should i be expecting hordes of mindless idiots beginning to rally against people with aspergers at some point now because of this guy? (although let me be perfectly clear that that insult was not aimed at any of the escapist residents)

Yesterday one of his victim?s parents hit out at Facebook, calling on the website to do more to tackle the problem after it emerged that one girl wrongly accused by others of posting the messages had attempted suicide.

The teenager took a drug overdose, but survived to see her innocence proved when Duffy was arrested earlier this year.
...What?

'Have you been saying bad things about dead teenagers?' 'No!' 'YOU'RE LYING!' 'OH GOD, I CAN'T LIVE WITH MYSELF ANYMORE!'

I can't comprehend something like that. Just goes straight over my head. The fact that she tried to commit suicide by downing a bottle of pills pushes her out of any kind of sympathy zone though.

There's no freedom of speech in the UK. That's widely accepted.
By whom? Please substantiate your claim.
The Public Order Act, for one. If you think we have freedom of speech in this country, then you are seriously delusional.

Are you familiar with the implications and consequences of having your name smeared on a massive public scale? No? Then you probably shouldn't hand wave it with your bullshit straw man hypothetical.

What 'massive public scale'? Do you even know the name of the girl? Because I don't, and I actually spent some time looking.

For not knowing the girl, you were quite comfortable putting idiotic words in her mouth in order to support your preconceived notion of how something like that would play out.

There's a reason slander and libel are crimes. Having your reputation and name dragged through the mud can have extremely serious consequences. Let alone for a teenager, who is going to be ill prepared to not catastrophize.

Making a facebook page? Don't they deserve it then? I mean, if you scream out "Hey look at us! We're super sad about this thing! We just want everyone to know that we're sad!" you're asking for someone to say "lol you suck".
Exactly!
It's like putting a memorial poster up in an area renowned for graffiti and then being surprised "and upset" when someone defaces it.
Now let's look at another example Raoul Moat, there are some pretty sick things posted there and some pretty nasty "joke" sites, but no one is saying that the posters are scum and should go to jail are they?
Where is the investigation into those "trolls"??
Double standards much?

PS:
Was I the only one who found Tasha the Tank Engine to be funny?(Not the video, haven't seen it, but the name).

This was posted yesterday. Half the people agreed with the action because its harassment. Half the people think Freedom of Speech lets you say anything. It devolved into a flame war pretty quickly.

There's a difference between saying something offensive, and making someone else the repeated target of your bullshit. There's an even greater difference between making someone the target of your repeated bullshit and making someone the target of your repeated bullshit when that person is already in an extremely emotionally fragile state. There's an even GREATER difference between making someone the target of your repeated bullshit when that person is already in an extremely emotionally fragile state, and making someone the target of your repeated bullshit when that person is already in an extremely emotionally fragile state AFTER THE FUCKING COURT HAS ALREADY GIVEN YOU A PASS AND A WARNING BECAUSE YOU'VE DONE IT ON NUMEROUS OTHER OCCASIONS.

If you can't figure out what those differences are, then it's time to go back to school.

Yes, let's lock him up for an arbitrary amount of time, which will due nothing to dissuade him from doing it again. It would be crazy to try and do something like, I don't know, getting him therapy since he obviously needs help. Punishment doesn't work that well on people like him.

This I agree with. Locking people up never really accomplishes much. The bit where they basically banned him from the internet for 5 years was pretty funny though.

Remember when mommy said "If you don't have a nice thing to say, don't say anything or keep it to yourself!". Well, guess that little cockroach didn't listen, and protecting victims of bullying against further abuse is a just cause to a certain degree, and in this case, this isn't just about the victim, but the loved ones as well. Sure the law might have better thing to do, like catch real criminals, but Duffy shouldn't be near a computer and the internet for a while misa-think.

Lock him up! It's only 18 weeks, he's not doing life in prison. He's scum, let him live with scum.

Look at this sick shit:

There is no doubt in my mind that he was getting sick giggles out of causing a shit ton of emotional distress to the friends and families of the young girls, and I hope he gets his ass kicked while in jail. This prick went out of his way to continually make these sick fucking jokes at the expense of the worst suffering a person can go through, one I'm all too familiar with, and I assure you, he deserves all he gets.

The guy's a disgusting human being, and he's being deservedly punished for it. Everything else are just details.

Eh? Without even reading the article I can say that the only thing I would do on Facebook, if I had one, would be to troll and try to pick up women.
So, troll away, sir.
