Edit: It may just be because I was originally Jewish that this bugs me, but why have they now claimed that the tale of Noah's Arc is now exclusively for Christian benefit?
Don't get worked up about it. Those that actually know even a basic history of the Bible know that it is not exclusively Christian (far from is), and those that don't are better off ignored

I'm think he can do whatever the hell he wants. It is his life after all. I'm kinda concern however, for the financial stability of his family. But since it's opening as a museum or something with admission fees I guess it is a business investment of sorts.

I also don't understand why people are throwing around the "But it doesn't exist!" remarks. Obviously he believes it existed and no need to remind people that you're an atheist.

Easier said than done, especially because those who would be better off ignored make up a majority. A good few years ago, I was constantly asked why I killed Jesus. Luckily, do to the fact that I'm more against religion than Jewish, I've learned to take a joke and use it as an advantage. The only side effect is that people refer to me as 'The Jew' most of the time.

I applaud this man and his efforts. He just woke up one morning and decided "Y'know what? I'm gonna build a big fucking boat that carries animals and shit. Oh yeah, and it'll help make people aware of my religion peacefully and not obnoxiously. " And he did.
Until you find out how much he spent and how much could've went to helping the needy as Jesus preached about. Something about the eye of a needle, amirite?

But that's coming from an Atheist so take it with a grain of salt. I'm just glad Norman Borlaug didn't succumb to Ark building.

Yeah, most people are assholes. I'm Christian, but not the crazy asshole type, but people automatically assume I'm some crazy extremist if I mention my religion. But yeah, religion brings out the stereotyping asshole in most people

You can read the full story here. [http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4853890.stm] Religious questions aside (although I'm sure someone will hijack this thread eventually), my question for you guys is the same one this dude's wife had: Why is this asshole wasting his money on stupid shit like this and not digging wells in Ethiopia or something? If he wanted to help the world, building a fucking boat is not the way to go about it. And not even a particularly accurate boat at that; if he's trying to show kids that the Ark really existed, is he implying that Noah had access to power tools and welding equipment (notice that his replica includes a steel motherfucking hull)? What did they run on, coal?

Anyway, thoughts?
Did you read the last paragraph where he says he has done work in Ethiopia, before slating this guy? Or maybe you are just jumping on the anti-religion band wagon? Whatever it is man you need to chill out. Just be glad he isn't wasting the money on something completely vapid and worthless.

But it doesn't prove anything!
Just that he has a huge boat!

*sobs in a corner with Logic*
True, but I still don't have an issue with what he is doing.

I see what you mean; I think that there are more effective ways to help people.

Maybe he wants to show people that the Ark could have possibly existed. I'm not saying that this proves - without a doubt - that the Ark did exist.

He did it because he is a delusional religious hypocrite, just like all the others. Or maybe he's related to the balloon boy parents and just wants a BJ from the media.

My friends, he is not just trying to lead his life in Noah's Image. He is clearly going at great lengths in letting people know that Sun Tzu did not herd two of every animal into a boat just to beat the crap out of him.

I don't care what he's doing either.
It's kind of pointless and I think he could spend his loaned money on something more useful, but that's not my problem.

Just the fact that he somehow thinks it proves the Ark existed is what's getting me (and my good pal Logic) in a fit.
Yeah.

It could definitely show kids that Noah's Ark could have existed, but it doesn't prove that it - indeed - did.

So wait, all you need to do is build something that hasn't been proven to exist just yet and that proves it exists? Well someone should have told him the Scientologists beat him to it back in the 1950s. Look! Xenu exists!

It just says he's done "projects" there. Since his wife felt the need to point it out, I'm gonna guess his projects didn't have anything to do with well-digging. Also, building a giant boat with borrowed money purely to prove you can is sort of the very definition of "vapid and worthless," is it not?

Oooooh, dimensions! Cause that REALLY tells you EXACTLY how to build it. Again, no actual plans, no building diagrams, no blueprints. Plus the added fact that IT NEVER EXISTED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
