I've lasted more then a month without drinking water and I'm fine. So I think that whole 3 day thing is bull.
While I highly doubt your claim, the 3 days thing is more a guideline anyway. Mostly to emphasize to people that in a survival situation, you need to think about getting water first. Actual duration depends on climate, activity level, personal health, and stored water levels, and probably some other factors I'm forgetting or don't even know about.
Hmm. Well I live in eastern Australia. I'm carnivorous. Oh, I drink a lot of coke. Would that surfice for water? Because I haven't had any actual water in literaly months. I don't do much exercise though, so that might be why.
Take a look at the ingredients on the coke can/bottle - the main ingredient is carbonated water. So yes, that counts.

Yea, this is old news. The thing is, they let him gargle and take a bath... Obviously, the guy just drank water and peed during those periods. It was also noted that he lost weight while they were watching him. Obviously, he's faking it.
Well, this poster solves the mystery first post. 2 weeks without food at a low avtivity level is certainly doable. Get him to repeat without any contact with liquids and I think we'd see a very different result. How can those doctors be so gullible? That's my major question.

Whilst I would like for this to be true, it would solve a lot of problems if it was, I am seriously doubting this.

Sadly, poor areas with an uneducated population is fertile ground for charlatans and tricksters. What boggles me is how many comments from the US defending the man's claims that article has gotten.
like this one:
What this ogi is doing has been done by yogi's for millenia. It is an amazing feat in that it is real and it took this particular man an almost inconcievable of discipline to achieve. Our physicists are just beginning to skim the finest surface of understanding of our human potential and while going without food for so long may not seem to serve a purpose - it is one of many ways to make the journey inward that we all must make eventually. We are all connected and when one achieves the level of discipline and inward seeking that this man has - it is for all of us.

This makes me very sad indeed.
My first thought there (besides "wow that guy is naive") is "why the hell did he mention a Physicist?" I'm pretty sure a nutritionist or biologist might have a lot more to say on the matter than a physicist. Pretty much all we physicists can say is "wow those people are gullible."
Maybe he meant physician?
EDIT: still doesn't make his argument any more valid, though, as I'm pretty sure he's poorly educated and/or a retard.

Seeing as how Coke contains mostly water (carbonated water is still water) I'd say you cannot claim to have gone a month without any water. You can say that you didn't drink plain water, but to say no water at all would be a lie little beter than the one presented on this thread.

Clearly a charlatan, don't these people have anything better to believe in? Like winning the lottery? or The Oakland Raiders?

Utter bullshit.

Every one of us has a basal metabolic rate - the energy we consume simply by being alive. Either this bloke has found a way to create energy from no where (which is utter toss of course) or he is lying.

Five quid on the latter. Any takers?

Didn't think so.....

I'm just amazed how many wack jobs left comments praising him. There were a few joke ones there but there seemed enough genuine believers to make me seriously concerned about the future of the human race.

It's a bad idea to discount anything as impossible, even if it seems to contradict out present understanding of the universe. So here's what I suggest: we lock him in a room with windows/cameras so that we can observe him. He may have a bed and whatever meditative tools he needs, but absolutely no food or water. If he survives for a full month, he's for real and I'll follow whatever he has to teach. If not, we should parade his corpse around, along with a news report along the lines of "being retarded kills"

...yeah, I'd say he's either batshit fucking loco, or really attention starved.

Either the guy is perpetually hooked up to an IV tube, he has bizarre selective amnesia or he's talking out of his ass.

Son... I am disappoint. Just look at the ingredients of Coke... I don't know how you could make such a silly comment.

No you haven't.

Not drank an actual glass of water? Probable. I don't drink water either.

Not taken any fluids, or eaten any food with water content (i.e. anything except bread/nuts etc). No, be quiet.
