He deserved those tickets. Those officers were just doing their job. You don't go to work to be disrespected, and this guy is a complete jackass. I hope his case gets thrown out and he gets fined heavily.

If he succesfully sues them then that will give me another reason to hate democracy.
He deserved those tickets.
Uhm... if you had a dictator he would have been executed on the spot, is that better?
That is bull!
Authoritarianism is not the stereoptype it is represented as in movies and video games!
He would just have no chance of sueing succesfully and would have still gotten tickets for flipping the cop off.
Yeah, I might have exaggerated that a bit, but then again, have you heard about Dawit Isaak from Eritrea who's been in jail for 9 years because he was fighting for freedom of speech? Not executed, but the chances are good that he will be, and North Korea is almost as bad.
That is totolitarianism not authoritarianism.
Also that is what happens when lunatics in backwards countries get into power.
Aah, I understand now. Care to mention one country that has a dictator and gives the people good civil rights and freedom of speech then?

Definitions of speech on the Web: (language) communication by word of mouth; "his speech was garbled"; "he uttered harsh language"; "he recorded the spoken language of the streets"

Notice how "flipping the bird" isnt covered under speech.

I believe the courts need to flip him the bird & throw his case out.

I agree, give him the tickets, its not his speech its body language, and flipping off cops should be just as bad as mooning them. but they will just give you indecent exposure on that.

Modern Europe and America are unable to have dictatorships because the public think that they are evil.

40s Europe had multiple dictatorships, not just Germany and Italy, France, Spain, portugal, Poland all had dictatorships too and they functioned pretty good.
Functioning and having proper rights are 2 different things. I know a person who said she thought that China need to have a dictator to keep it stable. So it's functioning and yet they got no freedom of speech and websites about democracy are blocked along with sites that may be offensive to China's government.
Now, be specific, mention one country that had good rights and freedom of speech and a dictator. Really, I will stop arguing when you mention the name of it and I've found out they had free speech there.

So he ends up paying, what, about $20-$40 a ticket, and now wants taxpayers to pay him $50,000 because the police were telling him to keep his hands on the wheel on a highway? This isn't just a case of disturbing the peace but also putting other people at hazard with him driving down a highway with his attention elsewhere and minimized control. This better get thrown out and the idiot billed with a big hefty court fee.
Afterthought: Now if he was on foot doing it, then I would bet good odds the cops would have ignored him. Which would probably have pissed him off even more and he would have called in a false complaint. This guy is nothing but an attention hog.

Idiot. That's not "challenging authority," that's biting the hand that feeds you.

He flipped the bird at a police officer. That is actually illegal, it's called disrespecting an officer. As much as I find it bullshit, it is illegal, and the ticket is valid. I find most police officers to be the most vile people on Earth, and it seems the vast majority only do it so they can exercise authority, but it's still illegal to disrespect them. At the very least, even if he did it to a private sector he could probably be taken to court for threat. He was a jackass, anyone who just randomly flips off a cop is probably a dumbass, and the fact that he went to a lawyer proves he is a doublepluss dumbass with a sense of entitlement. That being said, I view most cops as people who put firecrackers up bullfrogs asses. Half of them went on to commit crimes, the other half realized they could go on to commit crimes with exemption from the state.
