Only 2 years? That's worrying...

Shouldn't it be life for attempted murder?
Europe has an odd lega system.

Bodily harm, attempted murder and assault don't get as long in the slammer as murder or fraud.
My guess is that he would have gotten 10-15 years.. but they gave him two because they may think he mentally insane. He may only bein jail for two years, but he'll probably have to go to a mental hospital for another 5-7 years.

I'm sorry, but Europe has a werid legal system (probably trying to make-up fo centuries of tortue and arbitrary justice lol)
True, I mean, of course he is insane, but just "yeah, two years" seems like a lunch time detention rather than a real sentence. What happens when he gets out?

When he eventually found the victim, Barreaux knocked on the guy's front door, then "plunged a kitchen knife into his chest" when Mikhael opened it to greet him. He missed his heart by an inch.
So wait...did Mikhael survive?
I'm not sure if he survived although i assume it would have been mentioned if he was killed in the attack so assuming he lived. Also i think the guy would have got more than 2 years for murder.

Ugh. Yes, thats exactly why mentally ill people with obvious psychopathic tendencies should be locked in asylums instead trusting in the fact that pills alone will cure the condition without even putting a supervisor over him.

Judge Alexiane Potel told him: "You are a menace to society. I am frankly terrified of the disproportionate reaction you could have if someone looked at you the wrong way in the street."

And thats the moment when the whole system fails because prison wont change a damn. Telling him the obvious wont either. Its an illness, one which is not really curable at this point of medical advancement (other than frying ones brain to do personality wipes, but even then you cant be sure, and well, civilized world considers it immoral). The boy belong to asylum for rest of his life because his condition wont rather change on itself.

Wow, people like this make me feel bad to play Counter-Strike. That game is just a magnet for giant cunts.

France is TWO YEARS for ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER!?

In the US that would land you 20 years at the least.
In all fairness, that's because in america, many prisons are privately organized and profit driven. That has had a way of influencing sentencing times through the years since the 70's. While I haven't had the same study with Frances' criminal justice system as I've had Americas, I doubt locking people up is as good business as it is in America.

Locking up prisoners is in no way profitable in America, these people must be fed and get a room for decades, that's not cheap, we have a problem with overcrowded prisons here, and we avoid locking people up whenever we possibly can.

We simply don't believe a slap on the wrist for premeditated attempted murder.

Haha.. guess he wanted to "knife him back", nice touch of irony on Barreaux's part.
Knife to meet you?
Im sorry.
OT: That is one crazy mofo and he needs a lifetime in a psychiatric ward.

Wow. And I thought the South Korean MMORPG addict parents were bad...

Well, they still are, but at least they didn't kill anyone with criminal intent.

I apologize for the tastelessness of this comment.

Two years is way too short period. That dude should be institutionalized for life. 10 years in jail and after that to mental hospital for as long as it should. Shit. 6 months of tracking and when he found the guy direct murder attempt. That is crazy.

We... Well the legal system sucks donky balls in Europe. Here in Finland that might be like 5 years, but shit. 20 years or so would be minimum in my sight also. Plus to mental hospital after that time.

I'm suddenly much happier that I the games I play online are Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2, and that I suck ass at both of them.

But... if the person you kill has no idea why you're doing it, what's the point?

We have all at one point wanted to kill someone but we all eventually drop the idea after a while. I admire this guy for going the extra mile and turning a minor loss at a really old game into a vendetta worthy of KIll Bill. I love guys like this because they take minor incidents and turn them into full blown vendettas. I want to make a movie about a guy just like this who plots elaborate revenge schemes against people who cause him minor inconvenience.

They should check this guy for mental conditions. No normal person would go to that extreme
