As the title suggests, Gary Hudston, otherwise known as GHudston on these forums, recently proposed to his girlfriend, Stepanie Harbeson. Sure, that doesn't sound entirely newsworthy on it's own, but let me finish...
Several months ago Gary and Stephanie sat down to play Portal 2 and they both enjoyed it tremendously. Enough you might say for Gary to work out an entire proposal plan that would take part in the game. So began what has become known as 'The Gary Hudston Project'.
Or as Gary liked to put it: 'Project Neurotoxin'.

The levels you see here are created by two incredibly talented level design enthusiasts:
Douglas 'TopHATTwaffle' Hoogland and Rachel 'Miss Stabby' van der Meer Obviously, their talent speaks for itself.

Now, a lot of this is already impressive enough on it's own. The average nerd in all of us would have settled for great levels, not Gary Hudston!

Before work went under way for creating the levels you see here, Gary went ahead and emailed some staff at VALVe among those people were writer Erik Wolpaw and Ellen McLain otherwise known as the Announcer from Team Fortress 2 and the homicidal AI, GLaDOS.

Upon hearing what Gary had in mind, McLain was all for it and even sent him emails back reminiscing about how her and her husband got together.

Gary was prompted to write the script and they recorded it after a previously booked recording session, almost every line of dialogue is word for word what he wrote (with the exception of something McLain thought he was crazy to type).

Several months later and the levels were designed, dialogue in place all ready for the big unveiling for Stephanie.

And as you'll see from the end of the video... Well I'll quote Gary on this one:

'I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS!'

Personally, I've seen some fantastic in-game proposals in my time, and without sounding biased towards a close, personal friend of mine; this is truly one of the best.
I'm over the moon for them both and I wish them every success and happiness.

@GHudston Just in case you want to congratulate the man yourselves.

So that's the secret to getting a girl. It'd take a game like Portal to reveal that.

Seriously, though, that's a once-in-a-lifetime story.

My ex-boyfriend would never do anything like that, which makes me glad he broke us up. Gentlemen, you ask what we want in a man - here's your answer: someone who'll do something like that.

Normally, mushy gushy lovey dovey stuff throws me off.

That said, I literally just squeaked and nearly melted a little.
THAT IS SO CUTEEEE.
If I ever get a boyfriend, I'm definitely going to have to show that to him.

For gods sake don't give them ideas, the biggest problem in the geeky community is that they will do anything from the moment they see a girl.

OT: Very nicely done, I dof my hat to you sir

I'd say the guy deserves a medal for this, but he already got something much better, so...

Hearty congratulations to both of them, and a wonderful marriage! :)
