Is this supposed to be heartwarming? It's not. All that effort for a pointless, extortionately expensive ceremony and a few tax breaks. What a waste of time.

Normally, mushy gushy lovey dovey stuff throws me off.

That said, I literally just squeaked and nearly melted a little.
THAT IS SO CUTEEEE.
If I ever get a boyfriend, I'm definitely going to have to show that to him.
Same here. I hate those pathetic love thingies people do. It's just gross and idiotic. But this is amazing. It's artistic, thoughtful and even an unemotional bastard like me has to appreciate it. Of course, I would never get married. But if I did, this is how I would want to propose.

I'd rather hear stories of a woman proposing to a man. Seems a bit sexist that it only works one way. The level was well-made though, I'll give him that.

That...that was excelent. That's a win, thats a virtual real-life proposal win!

Congrats to all involved in the project, and great work!
Tobuscus CWF reference?

Also, congratulations! That was really well done.
Heck yes! Glad someone got it. Also this:

By the way, was the girl who the guy purposed to play this? And we're watching her play...? Because I would of seriously love to see her reaction thus she probably felt it was unreal at first. Very clever, very touching.. and awesome video overall. However, she must of been a pro. You see how fast she solved those puzzles? Haha.
I believe one of the level designers made the video, either that or it was Gary himself, I know he mentioned to me that he was doing some video editing after Stephanie had seen it.
[edit:No, just talked to him, turns out he's got his own video, that one that's currently circulating is one made by the level designer. I've advised that Gay keep hold of his one ]

But as for whether it's her playing, I doubt it, Gary didn't want to film her playing in anyway, mostly because the initial response to the levels is for them and them alone, which is understandable.

And secondly because 'Hey hunny, before you play let me set up the webcam/fraps' would be to suspicious and trust me, he spent literal months hiding this from her, so giving it away on the day would have been bad.

...That's going to be hard to beat.

So, who thinks by next year someone will have proposed with a full-length game?

(Or tried. The propos..ee will get bored halfway through and quit. :p)
Someone already did it, his name is Ian McConville. He works over at three rings the company responsible for Spiral Knights, in fact he's the lead artist on that game. He created a full 2D platformer for his wife (they're currently on their 3rd or 4th year now)

Normally I'm that wacky romance stuff, but that is one of the most awesome marriage proposals I've ever seen. Best wishes to 'em.

while this is truly awesome my problem with this kind of proposal is always that you put the girl under a lot of pressure and unless you are sure she will say "yes" this is a little meh.

I actually had to shed a tear, very emotional, and well built.
VALVe is really the most soulful game developer I know.

I'm pretty sure there is a lot of pressure no matter how exactly you propose :)

That was amazing and very heartwarming. Sure, it reminded me of Mallrats when T.S. wanted to propose when Jaws jumped out of the water, but it was really cute. I would love to do something like this, but I have other ideas.

Congratulations to the both of them.

It definately beats the chrono trigger one! Heh.

That was definately well done, a very good amount of effort was put into this by the guys working on it. Well done!

yeah but if i cook for her at home and go down on one knee if she doesn't say yes for some reason that will not destroy the relationship i may be disappointed but it's just me but with this you had at least three other people involved in this and she must have know so the pressure was higher.
Then again the vast majority of people know (who are married) were damn sure they would get a yes so they went all out with the proposal.

Take it from someone who was personally involved in keeping it a secret for four months* Stephanie did not know.

[sub]*It's how I know so much about it.[/sub]

Also having known the couple since they met and witnessed everything they've done together for the years they've been a couple, it's my opinion that she wasn't ever going to say no.

That's pretty cool. Also, it would be hard for a girl to say no after a proposal like that.

This is nothing to do with politics. It's just a deep-seated loathing of weddings and marriage.
Cool bro. By viewing an interpersonal bond as a cold, calculated business transaction I'm certain you'll have your shot soon enough too!
