well, he was pushed onto a cushioning serface, so, this seems karmatically even.
It'd be karmatically even If he had to sit there, concious, with a fuckload of pain for 5 hours per person he held up.

sounds like Mr Lai is the selfish one
Not to me.

Also, this is the one reason I could never be a cop, I wouldn't have the will to put such a great man behind bars

Am I the only one who feels sympathetic for the guy? He was standing there for 5 hours so he was obviously having second thoughts about it and might not have gone through with it, then some **** comes up and pushes you off and you're stuck with spine injuries. It's attempted murder really.
Then think of it at home. Maybe it's because I take everything mathematically, so I think every person there, times 5 hours, meaning he wasted a fuckload of people's time.

Probably.

If he didn't want to risk spinal injuries he shouldn't have been standing on the bridge in the first place.

The way I see it, don't say you're gonna do something if you're not going to follow through.

In the words of the guy on The Simpsons who pushed Homer off the building: "Less chat, more splat." I laughed hard at this one.

The guy may have had problems, he may even have jumped.
But on the other hand, he may not have.
Many suicide attemptees reconsider at the last moment or are talked out of it.
I mean, come on, he was up there for five hours, he obviously wasn't about to kill himself right then and there. It was probably "just" an outcry of despair and fear.
What this other guy did was basically attempted murder.

EDIT: I should read what other people have posted already.
What traceur said.

I ran into a similar situation while driving through Victorville, CA a few years back. The dumbass added two hours to my road trip. I wanted to push him off myself, but I guess even that seemingly short fall would've killed him.

The guy who did it should still be tried for murder (or put throught the Chinese equivalent of a murder trial.)
