This kind of reminds me of a video I've seen. It's the one where the Vietnamese police officer was run over by a truck, which split him in two. From his waist down was completely gone, and he was alive. The man in the video was disoriented as all hell, but he propped himself up on his elbows from time to time, talked to people around him and made hand gestures.
One part of the video, it even looked like he was yelling at someone who made a traffic violation near me.
So yeah, you'd be surprised how resilient the human body really is.
