I wish that they would make one in London UK, mostly because I want to meet Yahtzee and the guys from Australian gamer.

By all means franchise. I would love to go to a Mana Bar for game trivia night, I might even find ladies in RL that like games and know how to use their computers.

The first European Mana Bar would likely be in London. Of course, I'd prefer if it were in Manchester, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I for one would, I live in Liverpool, UK. We have a massive student population as does our neighbouring city, Manchester.
It's true, we (Manchester) have the largest student population in europe, at 50,000

To the fellow scousers in the thread: i was thinking that a bar like the Mana Bar would be better suited to just off Bold Street, by FACT. That place is full of indie bars and L1 is kinda upmarket at the moment. Also, who says that you need to be a franchisee of the Mana Bar Australia to trade under the name and logo of "Mana Bar" in the UK? :p

Bring it to a place that attracts a ton of tourism. A place where there's a beach...and not one of them awful shingle beaches, im on about sand. Bring it to Bournemouth!

couldn't agree more with Bison, I'd like one in Leeuwarden (because I'm going to College there) but I know that will never ever happen but I would be one of the regular guest when they bring one to The Netherlands

I'd franchise the hell out of that shit. Put one in Utrecht, Paris, London, several large cities in the States, just for starters. Sure I'd want one in Den Bosch for myself, but we have to stay realistic, right?
hell yes! then it'd be like... 10 minutes from my house :D my wallet would so hate you.

Bring it to Dundee, Scotland. Mainly because I live there, but there's also quite a high percentage of our population that are students, with Abertay having a "world-renowned" computer games school, so there's bound to be interest from there as well. Plus, there's a few developers as well, so prizes for the competitions would be easy to come by.

I live in Sheffield, and the student population is the highest in the city if I recall. Not many game developers though that I know of though. Other than possibly Sumo Digital. Some in Leeds I guess, which isn't far away.

Yahtzee doesn't like the UK though.

Regardless I think it'd be greedy to say "no you can't have a ManaBar too" so sure I think it's a good idea. I mean I plan to move to the UK some time in the next decade so I'd be a shame to leave the ManaBar behind if there's the possibility of one being there too.

Honestly Chicago would not be a good place for a Mana Bar. Maybe Evanston, but Chicago is not quite the bustling city it once was. People just don't go out all that often anymore.

In the process of opening something in a similar vein down in the deepest darkest depths of Devon.

Won't be ready to open till at least spring of next year though.

since when does liking a country or not influence a business decision? Fellow English speaking countries are often favoured by companies so they don't have to experience such a language and cultural shock if they chose to expand into a country that doesn't speak English anyway.

Furthermore, its not fully up the ManaBar Australia to judge if we get one or not.

It's not up to them whether or not you get a gaming bar, but it is up to them whether or not you get a ManaBar.

I was merely pointing out that, seeing as Yug went to Melbourne to open the Melbourne ManaBar, it's unlikely Yahtzee is going to want to go back to the UK to start a ManaBar. Yug might, and they're not the only investors, I am led to believe they have a silent partner who owns like 49%[footnote]This is an absolute guess I have no idea as to the figure or whether the investment partner(s) is/are singular, pural, a person(s), corporation(s), or a combination.[/footnote] or some such.

I'm not saying it's not going to happen, just that it's not the most logical next step. (I personally think Sydney or Auckland are the next likely move, if not the States.)

Well honestly a gaming bar will go off in any big city, as long as geeks and COD fans have a social, personal place to hang out at and challenge foes head to head, and not IP to IP, it'll go off, especially if the drink prices are near that of your local pub/bar. It'll be like the gym locker room for gamers, because it is designed for them.

The rights for trading under the name "ManaBar" "The Mana Bar" and "The Manabar" are still up for sale in the EU, as is the trade mark logo they use in Australia. Someone can very very very easily just buy up those rights and open a ManaBar that looks exactly the same with exactly the same drinks and ManaBar Australia can't do anything about it.

This was the case with the two "Budweiser" beer manufacturers, hence why one of them now has the tag line "The real Budweiser taste" (or something similar) despite a legal court case, no laws were broken.
