D.Gray Man - The art has become a spastic mess during battles and all the characters have started to look the same.

Shigurui; i consider it a masterpiece but the last volume seemed rushed and a few things seemed to have been left unresolved.

Also agree with Berserk taking to long to come out.

Farewell Mr. Despair,I love it but the jokes can be hit and miss with me.Usually because it's either a flimsy premise that was not funny to begin with to begin with or it focuses on something more exclusive to Japan and runs on puns I just don't get.

One piece, takes too long to get to the interesting parts *Stares at Dragon*
Also, stopped reading it after the you know what war when you know who died, kinda ruined it for me.

Bleach - The whole Fullbring thing.

I don't read or watch Bleach anymore. That series died with the Espada if you ask me.
I thought that was an interesting concept, until Orihime got kidnapped and they had to go rescue her, basically repeating the premise of the Soul Society arc. I actually still read it, and while the story has so many "what the hell was he (Tite Kubo) thinking" parts, it still has awesome bits like Ikkaku popping his dislocated shoulder back into place solely by flexing.

Anyway, manga I like/liked: Air Gear
Problem: Started as a kind of counter culture/sports manga and now it's a battle manga...

Berserk

I absolutely worship this comic, but the inclusion of the Berserk armour completely undermines Guts' struggle throughout his life.

It also adds a Deus ex Machina to the story and I FUCKING hate that.

But I could go on and on about how things went wrong with this comic after The Tower of Conviction arc.

Battle Angel Alita: Last Order

I choose "Last Order" over the original 9 books (Battle Angel Alita), because the originals are perfect as is. Last Order however picks up where the author/artist left off, in the old series, and promptly distances itself from everything that made the manga entertaining to begin with. Most of the interesting original cast is replaced with bland people, and there's far to much exposition.

BAA: Last Order is still good stuff. It's just not as good as the original. If the original was a 5-star manga, Last Order is a 3.5 star manga.

Two things, anime =/= manga.

And seriously? Are you stating that Vampire Hunter D is better than all the Gainax and Ghibli, that everything studio IG or Gonzo have done? Wow... i am not sure if you just don't know those works or are just... peculiar. I mean, i am a fan of Amano to the core, but that is probably the best that Vampire Hunter has, character design.

Pokemon Special- Legal English translations simply do not exist. Well okay, they do, but one is released about once a fucking YEAR. They're on volume 11. Out of 39.

*long sigh*

Totally the opposite for me, i found the original almost a bland shōjo manga in a cyberpunk setting and with shōnen elements, especially at the beginning. Could barely stomach Alita's love interests, both of them, but the first one was totally terrible for me.

Started to get more interesting as it developed... but then it suddenly stopped with one of the most rushed and unsatisfactory ending ever.

Also never understood the fixation all the "old characters" had with the physical base for their minds, panzer krust seemed just like giber jabber for a magical plot device... tons of small stuff like that.

Last Order is much, MUCH more to my liking. Though i understand it may be less emotionally engaging, it's world feels a lot better structured.

Bleach should've ended with the Soul Society arc.

Seriously.

After that it just fucked around with powerlevels, it got terribly inconsistent, completely lost focus (almost on D.Gray Man level) and I personally prefer the old more characteristic artstyle. Everything past Soul Society feels like the second half of Death Note all over again.

oh god this.

Lets see.....Bleach/One Piece and its problems have been listed quite a lot already, and Naruto actually seems to be recovering from its Sasuke period....

oh I know; Full Metal Alchemist......because it ended.

Monster, a manga about a japanese surgeon in germany who saves a young boy's life. Then years later, it turns out the young boy became a serial killer.

The ending doesn't resolve much and I don't really get the vilain's motivation but other than that it's thrilling.

Used to love manga/hwanga, but the fact all the bookstores stopped selling it, delays in publishing and the whole TokyoPop fiasco mean that I just stick with anime.

The manga is excellent for continuity. It has a lot more space to fit in all the details an anime can miss out. It does wonders for the universe, but that's the only perk I can see. But all things considered, it's a bloody good perk.
