The written word is important, too, but oral sharing of knowledge has been around far longer and was in my opinion more important.
Tamed fire and the wheel were great, sure, but without language those wonders would've been lost to the descendents of the inventors.

can you believe we spent millions of dollars (if not billions, I'm not sure) and human lives getting too the moon and once there we took a few pictures and played some golf before realizing that the moon is really boring.

OT the greatest accomplishment in human history is cake and the only thing that can outshine it is when ppl realize that it's better than pie (cookies came close though).

Disagree on the first point, agree on the second point. Cake is waaay better than pie.

Sure it's a large achievement for us too have landed on the moon, however it isn't belittling too say that, having reached the moon we could find very little practical use for it. if that's belittling (I have never heard that word before) then sue me,
