Oh, I've had the full spectrum of manly tears.

Emotional: Katawa Shoujo. Sheeeeesh.

Overwhelming Epic: The "out-in-space" part of Mass Effect.

Pure Joy: My inner graphics whore started and wouldn't stop as he counted the threads in the driver's shirt at the start of Far Cry 2.

WTF: Time Fcuk/Ucfk/Fkcu/Kfcu/etc. Between the soundtrack, loading screens, concept, stark style, other "me"s/Steven screaming for help/placidly asking you to tell their missing hands that they love them/telling you about the dude growing out of their head, and the dude growing out of your head, I may have curled up into the fetal position and wept a few times.

When I found Jiub in the soul cairn during dawn guard, so much nostalgia, he even said he wiped out the bloody cliff racers, god bless him.

The end of Oblivion comes to mind. Also, I really disliked having to put my Far Cry 2 "sidekicks" out of their misery when they were badly wounded, so I reloaded a lot to avoid it.

In my entire 22 years of existence, no video game has ever made me come anywhere close to crying.

Although, I have recently started my very first playthrough of The Walking Dead, so that may change.
If it doesn't, you may want to check your pulse. I have yet to play episide 5 and it has made me choke up multiple times.

in your experience of gaming, have you ever found yourself tearing up at a particular moment, whether due to happiness, sadness, or outright sheer epicness?

my example, Ace combat 5, final mission, the yukes (enemies for most of the game) and the oseans fly alongside each other, and sing this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrQrkZtg-mo&feature=related

i literally was misting up.

what are your moments of manly tears?
That game inspired me to be a pilot when I was younger, really wanted it before I found out you needed 20/20 vision. Sucks man.
actually, one of my friends who played that game later joined the royal air force. i wish him well, just goes to show the power of suggestion in games.
Best of luck to him! Think it's an incredible trade.

Annah in Fortress of Regrets. One of the awesomest and saddest gaming moments ever.

Oh, and how about Layton and the Unwound Future? The man himself loses his gentlemany cool for a bit.

The end of The Walking Dead game had me in tears, I thought I wouldn't but it came on so suddenly D:

In FFVII when Nanaki/Red XII discovered the truth about his dad. When you go into Vincent's backstory. Even when Cait Sith gave up his life for the planet >.<

Vivi questioning himself in FFIX. Poor thing...

When Auron goes back to the Farplanes in FFX.

there's probably more, I know it's RPG's that usually set me off but not always.

I have never cried over games/films/books etc. but some have brought me close.

Katawa Shoujo - So many moments were just so bleak, but so well written. I think the only one that I didn't feel terrible was Shizune's, as I found it quite difficult to feel sympathy for her.
Half Life 2 Episode 2 ending - If you have played it, you will know what part exactly.
Mass Effect 2 - Tali finding her father.
Mass Effect 3 - When I unintentionally got Tali killed in my first play through.
Dragon Age 2 - Merrill and what happened to her clan (optional).
Dragon Age: Origins - Human Noble origin, the end of it.

The Walking Dead was amazing, and it probably should have made me feel like crying, but for whatever reason, it didn't.

I always hated Dom in Gears 1 and 2 but then in Gears 3 they made him absolutely fucking awesome and then they killed him, I was sobbing. I also cried in Gears 2 when Carmine was eaten and in Aspho Fields (Gears of War book) when Dom's brother and Anya's mum die...

The end of Halo 3 when I thought Master Chief was dead and when Jayden was pushed into the crusher in Heavy Rain. I also cried at the Silent Hill2 ending and at the end of L.A. Noire when Cole dies as well as the ending of RDR and a couple bits in Max Payne 3. Oh and in XCOM when "Pixie" died, it was a necessary sacrifice, some one had to do it and she was the only one who could, she had to draw fire away from the rest of the team so they could get out safely, her name will not be forgotten...

I have been gaming for roughly 23 years now. I can say in earnest that I have been moved by many games. I have felt a great emotional charge from excellently crafted stories and world. And I have empathized with the triumphs and plights of many characters during that time. In all those years, however, I have never cried at a video game.

Until this past Friday when I finished The Walking Dead. I balled my eyes out like never before. So many decisions with such a finality in their resonance. You begin with a sense of hope and there's just this point where you realize when optimism is simply no longer enough and you have to make the hard decisions about what's best for those in your care.

I'll miss you, sweet pea.

All of my tears, man. All of them.

I think the only time I have ever actually cried in a video game would be recently with the Walking Dead, but that is mostly because Clementine became my emotional Kryptonite over the months of waiting and playing the episodes. That and I really like Lee, as well. There are a few Visual Novels I have played that made me cry like Katawa Shoujo and Clannad.

Ace's death
Hit me like a ton of bricks! It was so well done!

Other games like Final Fantasy, Persona and many others evoked emotion from me and don't get me started on some anime/manga!
More like Episode 548 (or 448, rewatching since I caught up and I'm halfway through CP9, Franky vs Fukurou, one of my favourite fights in the whole series!), I clicked that wondering what was so special about that episode, good thing I knew about
Ace's death at the hand of Akainu
. It is a genuinely sad moment and the way it's executed and built up to did have me shedding a few manly tears.
I really do dislike Akainu a lot, though I do think that at that point in the story had Sengoku not held Garp down he most certainly would have killed Akainu. We all know that Garp is somewhere around Whitebeard in terms of raw power after all. That said Shanks stopped him single-handedly.

Also, Laboon and Brook makes me sad.
Fixed :p

Garp and Gol D Rodger almost killed each other constantly, I wish they would show more of Garp to be honest, his true strength hasn't been seen. I also nearly shed manly tears when Garp found Luffy and Aces foster parent (A mountain bandit) who is devastated and angry at Garp for not being able to prevent Aces Death, believing he chose his job over his family (They are not related, but they were just as close)

I also nearly shed manly tears while playing Lost Odyssey...anyone who has ever played the game will know how that game hits you in the feels...
Good on the fix :p could be a devastating spoiler otherwise or I wouldn't have pointed it out.

Yeah exactly, and it's heavily implied that Garp usually won and Roger got lucky, and we have seen Garp fight the first division commander Marco, a man on par with the admirals in strength, and the result was Garp striking him down with one blow. I really would love to see Garp more, he's hilarious for a start and monstrously powerful, but I can't help but feel he's gonna get killed off at some point, perhaps by the Kidd pirates or something, who I think are gonna become major antagonists. I also fear that Shanks could end up dying whenever they actually show him having a real fight, which would be a shame, I mean who doesn't wanna see Shanks kick some ass?

Edit: Done derped my spoiler tag, fixed now, hope I didn't spoil anyone.
I hope Garp doesn't die, he was hilarious when introduced in Water 7! I hope Eustass Kidd and the supernovas don't become enemies, most of them are kick-ass! About Shanks, he is one of the strongest pirates in the world and his rew are legendary (Admiral Kizaru stopped in his tracks when Beckman told him to stop) I hope Luffy meets shanks again soon. I (think) am current on the latest story arc (The Punk Hazard one) and I must say, the story is cosmic (Not up to date yet) but it only makes me love Trafalgar Law even more!
Seriously, if I didn't have Happy (The cat in my avatar) as my main avatar, it would definitely be Trafalgar Law as my avatar! He gives bad-ass a new meaning!
He was indeed hilarious in Water 7, I'm also hoping Dragon comes into the story soonish, and I do hope that the whole storm thing isn't a devil fruit power and he can just break the weather with his haki. Yeah, Shanks is definately a badass ************, stopped Akainu with no effort as well. I do like the supernovas a lot, especially Kid and Law, I'm not into punk hazard yet as I've been watching the anime and declining myself reading ahead of the anime, though I'm one of those people that goes on wikis and spoilers themselves quite a lot.

I know that a few of the supernovas are proposing some kind of alliance, I think the Kid pirates proposed alliances with themselves, Hawkins and Apoo, and maybe another one that I don't remember. I could see Law being a seriously big player in the future though and I think his power is awesome stuff. Though in terms of sheer bad-assery Zoro is top among the supernova, cut Hody Jones down with one blow, beats some prick somewhere in punk hazard (don't know who, read it on the wiki and can't recall) by just looking at him, tried to outright murder a celestial dragon because the guy was a prick, and so on.

I think we can be certain that of the Supernova Luffy is the strongest, and definately has the least fear of any of them. Heading straight for the most dangerous islands in the new world, declaring war on Big Mam, declaring war on the world government, enies lobby, impel down, etc. But then he's the protagonist.

I also like Magellan a lot, find that guy hilarious, and I love how when he met blackbeard the first time all he had to say was "I assume you're blackbeard, i don't have time to deal with you" and promptly buried them in poison and left them to die.
I would love to see a fight between Killer and Zoro, both are the right hand man of their respective captains (Kidd and Luffy) and I would love to see how all the supernovas are now after the time skip! They are all in the New World! Their powers will have increased from what they were 2 years ago! I want to see how bad-ass Kidd has gotten (His bounty is now roughly 485 million beli I think)

I want to see more of their powers (Scratchman Apoo had a pretty cool looking power!) For some reason, I am more interested in what the supernovas are up to than the actual straw hat crew!

Trafalgar Law has returned in the story and he is more bad-ass than ever before! (I just might cosplay as him in his New World clothes)

One Piece is better than it has ever been before!
Apparently, Oda has the end all planned out, he intends to have the ending be the same, regardless of how the story goes, but he enjoys drawing it too much to stop yet (and his readers love reading it so much)
I'd love to see Zoro fight him but I think it's one of those things that would be a bit of Zoro beating a guy down, I can't wait to see Zoro fight Shilliew from the Blackbeard Pirates. The supernovas definately have interesting powers and I'd love to see more of what they can do, yeah i think it is 485 million, second highest revealed bounty, with the highest being Ace's bounty of 550 million. I think a fair few of them could become major antagonists as the story goes on. I hadn't heard that but it makes sense, I think Oda had the overarching story done a long time ago, he does tend to create things a long time before he uses them, I think it was someone like Kuma who he had created right at the start and couldn't use for a long time, now ait, it was Brook! He created Brook maybe 5 years before Brook debuted or so and had his backstory and everything planned out. The little stories between are what make One Piece so special though, it's a grand adventure with a tonne of compelling protagonists and intriguing villains. Imaginative powers too.

I'd like to see Franky have another real fight with somebody, he hasn't had a serious fight since he fought Fukurou in Enies Lobby (seriously, the moment where he get's the cola and smashes Fukurou through like 8 rooms? One of my favourite parts of the entire series, it's up their with Zoro taking in all of Luffy's pain at the end of Thriller Bark, or Zoro going to get trained by Mihawk to be told "Why would I waste my time training a man who couldn't defeat the baboons?" only for it to cut to a huge mound of baboon corpses outsides.), every other fight he's had has been kind of piss-takey, especially the one on Fish Man Island.

I'm glad Usopp (Sogekinguuuuu!) finally got to kick someones ass though!

I'm seriously hooked on it badly :')

I'm glad Usopp (Sogekinguuuuu!) finally got to kick someones ass though!

I'm seriously hooked on it badly :')
I love how all the characters got legit power ups! Characters who did very little in terms of fighting early in the series (Such as Usopp, Nami and Chopper) are now kicking insane amounts of ass! Franky and some of the other crew need to show off their strength in more fights! We have seen Luffy, Zoro and Sanji kick-ass now show more of the other crew!
I believe Black Beard and his crew are gonna be the ultimate antagonists off the series, I am not sure, but doesn't Blackbeards crew have a rival for each of the Straw Hat crew? It will culminate into a great fight (Hopefully at Raftel, the final island on the Grand Line) Considering how brutal the New World is so far (With the Supernovas running around) The adventure promises to be still brilliant!

Also, I must ask, have you ever watched (or read) Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Fairy Tail or Beelzebub?
I think it's great that the whole crew got pumped up a few notches, a lot of them really needed it. Though the lack of Franky action makes me a touch sad because when Franky is first introduced he's as strong as Luffy and very suddenly falls behind to around Nami's level, but Franky is probably one of my favourite characters of the whole series, he's just so super! (really wish I knew how to get animated avatars to work so my current one actually danced...). They definately need more fights, I think Robin needs to have an actual fight too tbh I haven't seen her in one yet I don't think.

Brook's new sword technique is badass but I'm not overly fan of his new design, I think it's mostly the hat that puts me off, I miss him basically being Slash.

The fight with the Blackbeard pirates will be amazing but I have an inkling it won't quite be the end of the series, I think he'll have a fight with Shanks for sport at the end of the new world or something along those lines. I can't wait to see what comes up next :3 I just wish the anime would move faster!!

Though, I think it's ridiculous to expect Coby vs Luffy to be the last fight of the series, Coby is just too far behind and has nowhere the natural and in-bred capacity for combat that Luffy does and I doubt he'll ever be as strong.

(Plus, in that situation, would Zoro fight Helmeppo? Can you say bloodbath?)
