Cept y'know, gonna and gotta are part of Webster's.

Besides, I wasn't referring to psychopath, more of just borderline crazy.

Oh yes, because telling you you did wrote a "logical well written post" is totally insulting.

Does that mean we don't have opinions?

Hell, according to Dunbar's Number, we can only live with 150 people in our lives. Therefore, the CEO at these companies couldn't care less without adding a bunch of unnecessary stress to themselves. Technically, we are merely dust in the wind, but fortunately I have a haiku for this occassion:

Lives Without Meaning,
Screw You You God-damned Asshole,
I'm Still A Human

:>
Everyone's entitled to their opinion... they're like assholes, everyone has one.. and sometimes they stink.

all I'm saying, I think, (really, the Bill and Ted line popped into my head at that moment as truly profound, and I, myself, am still trying to figure out what my zen monkey brain was trying to say) is that getting bent out of shape over this, of all things, seems to me to be a criminal waste of energy.

but it's your energy to waste, so waste on, I've said my piece :)

Actually a neither is in Webster?s Dictionary.

Why impose on me a grammatical standard you yourself fail to keep to?

I'm not in the mood for arguing about this right now.

gon·na (gŭn'ə)

Contraction of going to: We're gonna win today.

got·ta

got to; have got to.

If Valve decided to send a message to every Steam user on login reqesting that they vote for Valve in the respective March Mayhem match up, would your response be the same as it currently is towards Zynga and/or Turbine?
You know what's funny? When Gamespot held a best gaming hero competition, that's exactly what Valve did. Okay, those were semifinals but still. Gordon Freeman won that one.
And, to answer your question, no, my response wouldn't be the same. It's one thing when the developers promote themselves and another when those developers are scammers and haven't really developed anything.
My general thought is that Zynga doesn't belong here. My other general thought is that during such a comptetition, registration should be closed (that's no new users allowed).

I do not mind being thought of as a "neener". If it means I'm an immature, perverted asshole, then yes. I am a neener.

one more post till I get '69'...

Thank you for eloquently putting the point I was trying to make. But seeing as this competition was to attract new users, I think a 1-day requirement to vote is better. Y'know, get to know the site before one-shotting.

To be honest I had a similar idea and suggested it at some point in the past - that there should be a cutoff date for accounts that are eligible to vote in the MM matchups. That way there is a set number of possible votes for each round.

y'all forgetting something
IW took out the dedicated servers in MW2, and there are still a few thousand PC gamers whom hate them for it and could easily have created multiple accounts to vote to get IW out of the competition.
I put a vote against them for this reason.

I'd agree, BUT:
the point of this i believe is to find new users to get more traffic on the site.
I don't think its terribly great, but that's most likely the point

Zynga is ass

That is all
That is only your opinion, and unless you are looking for a flame war it might be kinder to state it as your opinion rather then fact. Here let be give your an example. Your post states an opinion as fact so we have that example covered, now let me state an opinion as an opinion.

I don't like Zynga's games.

Not complex was it?

Want another opinion?

To get a devoted enough fanbase Zynga must be doing something right, and as March Mayhem is only a popularity contest more power to them if they win. They will not however get my vote as I don't think they should win against the likes of the developers they are going up against.

So no it wasn't all.

On topic:

If it isn't against the rules then you should be griping about the rules and not the companies that take a personal interest in winning and so use every advantage they can get.

Personally, I'd have no problem if Valve did that, but that's partly because I feel that Valve is one of the best (if not the best) developer in this competition and they deserve to win.

Hypotheticals are stupid. Concern yourself with reality. Like how March Mayhem is a farce.

Zynga will win. Turbine will lose. The crown of shit will be passed along, and hopefully we won't be hearing any more of it until this time next year.
OOC: That's Aeris from VGCats right? I love that comic to death. <3

Vaguely On Topic: and Marq is right. Zynga will win. It's a definite. Fuck the 'possibilities', unless Valve advertises on Steam then Zynga will win.

Well, you have 2 big problems this year:

Zynga is competing for MM

You can cast votes from within Facebook (Zynga's territory)

Imagine that you could vote from withing Steam, without having to register for the Escapist? Or from the DDO/Turbine launcher?

So yes, i think Zynga has an unfair advantage.

Personally, I have no problem with developers using their launchers to advertise a competition they're participating in. Since there's no rules prohibiting it, it's all fair game. The bigger developers mostly won't bother though since there's no real accolade for winning this. If a widely publicised awards ceremony were linked to it, you'd better believe they'd change that though.

However, I think people have several issues with this year's March Madness. I can't comment on previous years since I've only witnessed this one. From what I've read in the Zynga vs. IW thread, a lot of people have a problem with Zynga's past business practices and have brought that along with them to the voting. Another problem, and one I personally have reservations about, is that Zynga are the only purely Facebook based company in the competition, and voting in MM via Facebook is practically a one-click deal. Therefore, Zynga's fans have much easier access to the polls than anyone else. It changes the whole balance in the competition. For me, it's got nothing to do with how good a developer they are or are not (although I do have my own opinions on that) but more about how fair a competition this is.

I would prefer to see a tight, fun competition than someone steam-rolling everyone and making it predictable. But it's all opinion at the end of the day.
