Bummer. I'll swing by the site next year to check again if I remember.

CD Project would have almost certainly won this year.

I'd have voted for From Software, personally.

Toby Fox would have personally graced his presence upon the site...

and then proceed to smite everyone who doesn't vote for him in a bullet-hell fashion

I got 20 on C, 50 on D, 10 on A, and 20 on B... Apparently, E and F might have the popular vote, but once any of them go up against D or even B, that's when the real votes start popping in faster than a Super Tuesday...

On a more related note, there's always MM 2017 to remind ourselves that MM 2016 could have been a lot more intense in hindsight...

The music during said smiting would have been really good. So that would have been a plus.

Digital Homicide should've been in it. That would've been awesome.

You're probably right. The final would've probably been between Bethesda and CDPR, with CDPR winning.

That being said though, I'm not sure how popular Bethesda is here anymore. Because I remember visiting this forum back when Skyrim was released in 2011 (of course, I didn't have an account back then, but I did still visit occasionally), and the gaming board here was FULL of Skyrim threads. You couldn't move without tripping over one of them.

But now with Fallout 4? We've barely had any threads about it at all. Maybe 2 or 3 threads that quickly faded into obscurity.
Such a stark contrast.

The Elder Scrolls games have always felt way more evocative to me, so I think it makes sense. There's only so much to say about nuclear wasteland #231.

CD Project would have lost in the finals to Valve. Again. Like every year.

Have you learned nothing from your time on this site? Steam is God, Gabe is Pope, and there will be no blasphemy against He Who Discounts PC Games.

Long-time lurker? You only joined last month.

Anyway, much to everyone's surprise, Valve didn't win or even get into the final last time. They were knocked out about mid-way through.

There's a reason Fallout: New Vegas worked where Fallout 3 and especially 4 failed. Bethesda went and made this really accurately Fallout Retro-Future wasteland, then proceeded to remove everything else Fallout from the games. They really screwed the pooch with Fallout 4 which went as a far as to remove all of the personality form the game entirely, giving you a character choice of between bland stock male #4,599,341, or bland stock female #2,622,101... What made the first two Fallout games fun was cheese, self aware humor, and really variable results for the end of the game, based on your character build and choices. Bethesda doesn't have the creativity to do that sort of thing.

OT: The lack of March Mayhem is kind of depressing, seems like all The Escapist's events are getting shelved now.

I do kinda find it amusing that Valve apparently wins every year but when they don't, they don't even make the final two. Admittedly yes, they've won 3 years out of 7 but it's not really every year.

OT: I'm remember my first March Madness, with Zynga's march to the last 4, I think? The sheer anger that flowed freely during that was amazing. I think that was the only reason Valve won that year, because they meet Zynga and everyone voted for them. I recall it still being stupidly close though.

EDIT: It was kinda close.

I never partook in it. It always seemed like very particular developers would always win. Hell, how well has Valve done in it in the past despite them not really making games? And that was always what bugged me. It didn't seem like developers won because of quality of their products that year. But rather because it was popular to like them or they made a really good game 10 years ago.
