I've been wondering about that too,

I hope it's not as token ans pointless as the marriage in the Fable games.

Or I at least hope that some of the romanceable NPC's are characterized.

They better not pull the same shit they did in Oblivion where 1000 characters all have the same 3 voices.

I think they did actually, I vaguely remember an article about it.
I'm more concerned with the interracial marriages seeing as it just gives into the furries.

I think so, yes.

Also, are kids a thing? I know Bethesda's weird policy on kids in games, but I think if they went down the road of their Fallout games, it wouldn't be a problem, i.e. kids can't be killed and are never put in violent situations.
No kids, i think. Atleast it hasnt been confirmed.
Really? I am disappoint.
I would love a game in which the player's children are given some depth, unlike the Fable kids which are annoying and only require regular visits/gifts to keep them happy.
I dont find it plausible, that there would be kids in the game (unfortunately). I just don't think Bethesda would really spend the time to code that in, understandably, as it's purely optional, and not a huge part of the game.

Kids have indeed been confirmed. Not your own yet, but other children. It will presumably work just like Fallout 3's children.
If they're not going to be mortal, then I at least hope they won't make me wish they were.
They can't have mortal children without having to edit the game for EU can they? I wouldn't know, but I seem to remember that.
Yeah, I could live without another Lamplight. I spent hours trying to gun down the stupid bastards.

Hahaha, a very good point. Hell, this actually raises serious questions about the whole land of Cyrodiil. Where are all the hybrids from the inevitable inter-racial procreation? Where are the lizard halflings and cat-reptile hybrids?

It would have been fun to see what kind of child my Nord character would get from an Argonian wife XD

JK.

On a serous note, having a npc spouse might be useful if they are particularly skilled, for certain missions, assuming it's an option to bring them along.

From what it looks like, it reminds me quite a bit of Fable 2 and Fable 3 and their marriage system. If that's the case, then I don't see the point that much. Oh well.

Meh. On the one hand, I don't want a marriage system that complicates the game too much. While the system in the Fable games was pretty pointless in that your spouse really did nothing beyond wander around, it was relatively low maintenance, which I prefer.

I'm sure mods will fix the lack of sex with your spouse about 14 seconds after release.
They did that in Oblivion, and how I WISH I could unsee what's been seen there.
If you thought the residents of Tamriel lived in the Uncanny Valley, just wait until they're naked and thrusting...

If you excuse me, I have to have a word with Dr. Jack Daniels about having my brain cleansed again...

Marriage is so poorly implemented.

It's buggy, there's literally no point to doing it (besides getting a shop and a steady source of income)

One of my party members died ingame and he spawned at the ceremony as a corpse, and I failed the marriage.

It was absolute bullshit

Yep. My female Dunmer and Ysolde are a happily married lesbian couple living in Solitude. It works the same as any other marriage -- any marriageable NPC is available to a Dragonborn of either gender.

Supposedly, sleeping in the same bed as your spouse gives you a bonus to learning skills (15% quicker, rather than 10% from Well-Rested), but Ysolde doesn't seem to want to come to bed...she sleeps on the bedroll in the basement, and I just get the normal well-rested bonus. Either it's a bug or she realized that she married a grizzled-looking Dunmer with a missing eye.
